Issue with motors cutting out

Well, I'm at the point where I can figure out most problem, but this has me stumped. Installed the SPRacing F3 Mini on my 220X build with R6DS receiver. Connected to software no problem and did a basic setup for receiver, calibration, etc. and left at default Cleanflight 1.3 firmware. Everything looks good and quad is very stable at low throttle hover and thinking great! Problem is, the second I even give it a little blip of throttle, it cuts out and drops to the ground. Grrr. It's not a receiver signal problem as I'm only 10 feet away and in fact, it doesn't even disarm. As soon as it hits the ground, I can take off again. Not a power problem, as I tried 3 different batteries, all fully charged and balanced. The F3 Mini is powered directly from the battery as it has a built-in 5V regulator. Thought it might be bad, so I it disabled and hooked up 5V supply from PDB - exactly same issue. Any ideas?

Sounds like voltage drop. Do you have any batteries with higher c rating or more amps?

That was my first thought, however I has basically the same setup on a larger 250 frame with no issues using 3S 35C 1500mah batteries. The only difference with this build is 20 amp ESCs instead of 12amp, and Emax RS2205 2300 kv motors instead of MT 2204 2300s. Is it possible that the redbottoms are drawing that much more power as to cause this problem?

OK, now you've got me thinking. I'm using stiff 5X4.5 Dal 3-blade props. I've got some flimsy Genfam 5X3 2-blades that I'm going to try and if I get better results, I know that not enough voltage is the problem. I'm just using a 3S 35C 1500mah, so I've ordered a 4S 50C 1500mah. Problem is I ordered 30 amp Aekon ESCs but they sent me 20amp units, and Ecalc tells me I'll be puching the limit with the 4S lipos. It never ends...................

You could also get a higher c rated 3s battery too. It does not have to be 4s. I had a battery that went bad on me, and the voltage drop would kill the flight just like you are describing.

Just an update on my problem. Received the new batteries but before I tried them, thought I'd see how things went with milder props. Quad did an immediate high power face plant. Took it back in and changed a few settings and checked setup, took it out and BOOM, high power backflip. Same process and this time a right flip. OK, so now I'm thinking this is not a power issue at all, but something in the setup, my guess was something to do with the ESCs. So I reflashed the ESCs and FC and did a total setup from start to finish. Took it out and it flies like a champ with the crappy old 35C battery, no power loss even on full power punchouts. Just one of those things where I can't really track down one specific problem. On the positive side, I came out with 2 shiny new 75C Tattus hahaha
