Is this any good as a first toy for an 8 year old?

Hi mate ,glad you asked the question before you buy , well looks ok ,But the battery is built in so your stuck with the fly charge ,fly charge, a quad like the hubsan has batteries that slide in so you can have as many batteries as you like , so you can fly then charge and while its charging fly with another battery , second part is can you get spares , the micro quads can start to loose blades after crashes and they are hard to find ,i lost a blade outside took 3 weeks to find , this will be a better buy spare are easy to get mine is 2 years old still flys great , flys well outside does flips rolls , as you can get spare it will fly on for years, i get all my parts for the hubsan from banggood.com you have to wait a little but 8 batteries £10 etc so get the quad from e bay and order spares from banggood.com .
All i can say is the Hubsan x4 quad i used and still use i have had it so high it was just a dot , its fast in pro mode , flys great in doors you can get a prop frame so you can damage blades if you hit it on a wall or floor , and has led me on to the 666mm quad in the pic, hope this helps Kind Regards neil

Thanks. All good points. I'm new to these things (my X1 is currently winging it's way to me) and was just after a little something for the kid to play with as well. Sounds like I may have to push the boat out a little more.

I live in the UK so ordering form abroad gets very expensive on duty, vat and Fees the post office charge so I have to keep the value under £18 or buy in the UK. I'll keep looking around with the points you had in mind.

Yeha - it's the going over £18 thing again... You would not believe the fees that would be added on.
 
Ok i do under stand the costs , its worth saving and getting the hubsan or a clone of it , try not to get one with a built in battery as if battery goes you may not be able to replace it
 
Cool!!! The £18 was not so much as how much I wanted spend as the limit for tax free imports.

I feel like a kid that has just been given the keys to the sweet shop.
