Read about the Canada new regulations of drone operation via you-tube video.
EACH drone weighs over 250 grams is to be "Remote ID" registered individually.

So, I have 5 of those over 250 grams, and I doubt if they are compatible to be installed with Remote ID. If they aren't, I am "s---" out of luck.
Even if they are, place I could fly them is so severely restricted that I might as well forget about it.

Just been reading your regulations. They don't sound much different to those in the UK, at first glance. ie
"The registration number must be clearly visible on the drone.
You can use:

• permanent marker
• permanent label
• engraving"

Well I am giving I think , to much hassle all my drone and helis are over 250g . I will keep one scale helicopter I can fly in my back yard , I can't believe a few idiots have trashed this hobby
So the money I make of the sale will be buying me a new Telescope

Don't think the legal changes at least in the US have anything to do with hobbyist the people putting legislation in place couldn't give a rats ass about hobbyists, here it's all about opening the air space for commercial entities like Amazon to use it for delivery drones and the like (one truck with 10 or so quads can quickly keep moving through a neighborhood assuming the loading can all be automated). In any case this isn't going to stop me from flying if anything I'll get commercial licensed for flying bigger things and find ways to turn those into profit instead of loss.

The feds are going to start patrolling the airspace for delivery, police and rescue type drones. They don't want a bunch of amateurs up there bumpin into ish lol. It was only a matter of time before the feds stole it from us.

It's a big shame things are getting hard , it's always the few mess things up for everyone else , You cant even sell up as no one wants to buy because they know the hobby is being jumped on and restricted so you get stuck between a rock and a hard place
So stuck , so may just keep flying for now , I am better off than some I know a farmer really well and he lets me use one of his fields to fly in

At least in the US the laws being put in place about remote ID aren't effective for a few years so at least the next few years things won't really change then after that worst case scenario I have to fly at designated fields which is lame but not the end of the world (also if I pop over to the park and get in a quick cruise I'd put money the Chicago police have bigger fish to fry, also betting and pot just became legal here).

Yeah it's not logistically feasible for local law enforcement to worry about some overreaching federal laws lol not too worried yet.

It is pretty vague still if want to see the details this is a thing happening still at the moment, RDQ (race day quads.com) is taking it up with the FAA if there isn't some exclusion for hobbyists added to the rules (basically okay with mandating that off the shelf things have some restrictions but don't want the draconian remote ID which is still itself very ill defined to stop people from flying). Luckily people like Tommy aka Ummagawd on Youtube are also figuring out how to get something sub 250g that still flies well for regions where that's already a restriction or in case the rules in the US only apply to models over 250g (not really sure about this myself but in any case lighter is generally safer and are getting better efficiency if can shave off some weight without completely giving up durability).

So just got the email from the FAA about this, sounds like they are mostly trying to stop people from flying over crowds but the rules basically boil down to we'll need to have a remote ID beacon on our quads one way or another (either attached by user or by mfg) that will report location and telemetry info while flying. The rules go into effect 60 days after publication and compliance from mfgs to sell in US is required within 18 months, then for us regular folks it's 1 year after that so set your alarms for 2 years and get your tracking free flying in.

Does this technology even exist for 5 inch home built kwads? Are these rules just being made up by a bunch of government appointed hacks who don't know jack about electronics?
