The biggest reason helicopters took off and multi rotors didn't was efficiency. One blade = less fuel = more range and cheaper to repair.
Still that way.
But...if you go electric and range is not an issue, ie, local commute, then there may be a market. A small one.
The advantages of a multi rotor is lifting capacity and better control/stability. Could use smaller motors on a smaller craft and it could be about the same price as your average car.
However...toss a few thousand of the vermin in the air and big brother will drop the hammer faster than a quad hits the ground after loosing a motor. That is not even considering the very first time one drops out of the air over a shopping mall and kills little billy sitting on a sidewalk eating ice cream. In the U.S.A. if it flies it WILL be regulated. Now add on licencing fees, registration, insurance, maintenance periodicals, inspections and certifications, now your cheap local four bladed grocery getter is on par with a full fledged helicopter price wise without the range or efficiency.
A curiosity. All it will ever be outside of unmanned uses. Hope you guys in other countries go farther with them than it ever will here.
