Inherited a DIY quadcopter and I have no idea how to make it work!!

Hi, my Dad has given me his old quadcopter project that he worked on years ago. He said he managed to get it up and do some GPS waypoints etc and then he lost interest.

I said I'd love to have a go at it and he duly dropped it off. I'll try to post an image of what I have, but AFAICT it's got a Crius AIOP, an Ublox GPS unit, FlySky FS-9RB and also a FlySky FS RM-002 TX.

As you can see, it's a bit jank with the wood and foam aesthetic... But if I can get it working I'll invest in a cheap frame etc to make it look better. For now, I just want to get it to fly.

I have ZERO experience in flying drones, apart from messing with someone else's tiny little thing. So, I really need some help here.

I can't even get the TX to bind to the RX to just get the rotors to spin or something.

So, please - can anyone help me just get a start with this. I really want to at least get it up in the air. Dad thinks I'll never be able to do it. Let's prove the old misery wrong!!

Hi just looking at the photo there is a wire plugged into the bind port it should not be there all the time it's just plugged in to bind , to bind you have what they call a bind loop which all that is servo plug with a loop of wire to the two outer pins when plugged in to bind port the receiver will flash it's light now you bind with the transmitter

You'll have to figure out what firmware that flight control board (fcb) uses and see if you can still get a configurator. I've never heard of that board before, looks old lol.

Plug into configutor, check that rx is receiving signal into fcb, check that motors are working, then check that an arm switch is set up in both fcb and radio.

That's it in a nutshell, if you have any other questions we're here some days lol. Good luck!

I have several like that. Only thing, mine are tri copters. They still run on an old KK board from Hobbyking.Mine are about 30 inches prop to prop.Back when I ws decent at flying them , they were a blast. Very fast and manuveral.Made mine out of 3/4" pvc pipe for the arms.My tranny was a 6 channel flysky.

Tricopters are real fun to fly very close to a helicopter when flying , if you get a super light high powered one it's amazing what you can do with them

Mine are rather heavy. I have them motored up. At one time I was playing around with light agri. work, spraying and such.
