that's the way it goes sometimes!Oh no that's bad luck
Hey Dugdog! Ya maybe! I think the fire was caused when the quad hit the ground. It bent the arm up and lifted/fractured the ESC and poof. Ah well ordered another Apex frame and going to use Fettec. I currently have a Fettec build but I think he ESC is effective so need to return/replace.Nooooo!! Sorry that happened bro however I've seen people land on stuff before without issue.
Theory: hovering too long caused the escs to heat up and catch fire? Remember usually you're doing 90 on a slow day and all the wind keeps things cool. Just a thought.
Hey Wafflejock! yes need to have some insulation between the 2 for sure. Which 4in1 are you looking at?Oh noes haven't watched the vid quite yet but I had my first esc fire recently too it must just be that time of year .
For me it happened on landing because I didn't put any tape on the CF arms and the esc shorted through the CF on the arm when it bounced off the frame on "landing". I quickly managed to blow out the fire with a few big breaths (didn't go out first shot but kept the flames flying away from the center of the quad so everything survived except my one esc on the arm... )
4 in 1 would be less likely to suffer this particular problem but I still have one in cart on rdq just waiting to finish some bigger financial stuff before trying to buy more gear (excited to hook up digital system to something soon though)
Looks like you are going to have a sweet set-up man!!! Looking forward to the maiden voyage video!!!View attachment 6040
I actually just wanted the 40A version of this but out of stock so have the slightly pricier higher amp one in the cart now. Have a couple receivers sitting around and DJI air unit for fpv for it probably like a month away from ordering though since working on getting a house and transitioning projects at work.
