I don't want to witness my quad lose its 2.4 control signal

So I built a nice external receiver ground station (goggles). It came out pretty nice; simple but effective. But riddle me this: now that I (potentially)have great 5.8 range, do I need worry about my controllers 2.4 range? I don't mean interference, I just don't want to lose control of my quad while my video signal is fine. Perhaps I'm being a paranoid here because I doubt I'll even fly that far away. I'd just like to be in the know about it. Thanks for any replies

Thanks Jackson for the reply. Thing is I fly first person so it's hard for me to tell. I have to admit I'm new to fpv so all my brain cells (15) are focused on flying and it's hard for me to judge sometimes.I guess it's just a matter of experience. I've never heard of one but let me ask you this: is there a way, perhaps audio alarm, that helps you determine the extent of your range? Thanks for your time.

My 5.8 600mw range is most of the time better than my 2.4ghz radio's range. It lets me know when the signal gets weak and critical (voice command) so that I know its time to fly in a little closer.

If signal is completely lost it will kick in failsafe and return to home. Do you have failsafe on your ac?

First of all thanks the reply dingo long. Due to the nature of my quad I don't have any of the alarm or warning systems that you have apparently. I do believe I'll just have to figure it out by myself .

It's Ringo Long btw.

You are flying at your own risk without telemetry, or failsafe. Interference could occur randomly that will affect distance so there is not a 100% certain way of avoiding complete signal loss. The only way to be 99.99% sure you will not crash due to signal loss is with failsafe that will send your aircraft back to the point of takeoff.

What equipment are you using?
Does your radio show signal strength?
Does your rx and flight controller have built in failsafe?
Can you ask someone to help you establish what the max distance is on your radio? (although this is not the best way to play it safe since without telemetry how would you even know how far away you are)

My apologies on the misspelling of your name Ringo Long, my fingertips must've gotten ahead of my brain. Anyway I do have a built in f/s on my controller. I'm ising a Radiolink at9 and I have it set to reduce to 15% throttle in case I lose signal. I've been so focused on my video signal that I haven't been paying enough attention to my control signal!! Priorities! I have to be very careful because when I'm flying in the first person perspective I can't actually see the distance my quad is away from me. I guess I'll have to make a visual reference point on the ground so I'll know if I get to that point I have to turn back. Thank you for your reply.
