I crashed again! This time my Tarot Ironman 650

I thought it was a motor but after listening to the video I am not sure. It sounded like the power was cutting off. I used the same parts from the last drone that fell from the sky so maybe the same component failed. I will probably never know. If you have any ideas what could have caused it please let me know.

Both crashes occurred towards the end of the flights which would lead me to believe that one of the components was heating up and then failed. Which component, I may never know but I plan on reattaching the couple of wires that came loose and running it weighted down to a table..... or not. May just scrap it.

If you think it's your flight controller, you may want to give the Tarot ZYX-M25 a try. I just put a new one in my 650 Sport (had the same as you, unexpected crash with Naza-M V2) and it's rock-solid. And you can get one at HobbyWing for $100 which includes GPS module, PMU, the only thing you need is the OSD which is $25. As for motors, I've used the same set of HobbyKing Quanum MT for 2 years and they've been totally reliable an they don't cost a fortune.

For me, it is hard to tell what went on from the video. Regarding the use of parts from a previously crashed aircraft, I have done that, but I have been leery about using motors, especially if the prop broke, or the motor was stuck by a tree branch while running. If I have the slightest doubt about a motor I will replace it. As far as ESC's go, that's a hard one as I know of no way to test and make sure that it is okay - again, when in doubt I replace.

I have a Tarot 650 Sport that is currently grounded as the last flight I did produced video that showed lots of vibration. I am waiting on a prop balance device so I can make sure that the props are balanced. But a problem I have that I have not resolved is that the motors seem to surge and back off during flight. I've recalibrated the ESC's and it's not as bad, but it is still there. I am using MN3520 T-Motors and 6S lipo power. The flight controller is an APM 2.6. Despite the uneven motor speed, it seems to fly okay, but it worries me....

Well looky looky. I found one that had burn marks on it while all the others were new and shiny looking. Looks like there was a surface area issue and not all of the connector was touching.

Sorry for the repost but the video was no good on the last one. Okay, turns out it was a motor like I originally thought. While trying to figure it out I did find the bad connector as well, but during this test the motor quickly failed. Oh well, now it is time to go back to the drawing board and either fix this quadcopter or just build one from scratch which is probably what I'm going to do.

If it's any consolation, I had the same problem - bad connector that caused an engine failure and devastating crash. My quad was totaled but I had enough spare parts that I rebuilt it and it flies great now! Good luck!
