Hubsan X6 problem - wont lift off

Hi all, new to the forum, happy to be here :)

I have an X6 which after numerous indoor crashes had an engine blow out.

I ordered a replacement engine and soldered it into place.

After this it wouldn't take off at all, turn out I had but the propellers on the wrong way around.

Swapping them back correctly did not however solve the problem. It stopped flipping over, but at full speed it will just barely jump up and down. If I launch it by throwing it up in the air it might do 10 seconds of flight before slowly falling back down to earth.

I've tried with fresh batteries (have 7) but no difference.

What could this be due to?

Faulty (too week) replacement motor (would a fraction of 1/4 of the engines make any difference? If the engine power is down say 25% on the replacement motor that would make about 10% loss of lifting power in total...

Could the motherboard be damaged in some way? The reason for the initial crashes was that it was incredibly instable and difficult to control...

Anything else?

Well the motors need to be pretty darn close if you expect any decent handling.

Try this test.


If your new one is not pulling up, try swapping it with the opposite one and test again. This will help determine if it's a motor problem or something with the quad itself.

Here's the prop orientation.

Swap blue to blue or red to red.

The rear right engine (M4) isn't lifting it.

I suppose the engines are different? I got a blue-red wired and a black-white wired one in my repair kit. It's a blue-red wired engine that is having power problem (the one I replaced). The soldings seem fine so probably need to get another engine to replace it with (again).

Because I couldn't use the black-white wired engine right?
 
There are two types of motors, CW and CCW. M4 and M2 use the same motor. I'm assuming that they are all spinning in the correct direction. Does the problematic M4 seem to spin as freely as the others when you flick them by hand? As I said I would swap the M4 motor for M2 as a test. Also make sure you are using the correct prop, they also are paired for each direction.
 
Hi mate Jackson is right the motors have colour wires as they will fit ccw or cw only depends on wire colours , if you used the wrong one your have to solder wires the wrong way round to get it to spin the right way
 
So the CCW engine I have can be fitted in place of the CW engine if I swap the wires?

Which is plus and minus, how does black and white relate to blue and red?
 
Hi mate , Your are ment to replace the right motor with the same one so if its a black white you replace black white, but if you fit it to the wrong position on the quad you can reverse the wires but it try it and see if it spins right way if not swap wires over , the coreless motor are not good they are cheap thats why they use them, if one motor has failed the other wont be far behind on the toy quads its best to change all 4 motors at a time as the older motors wont be as good as the new one
 
Yes, but, one motor (blue red) died and I got a replacement pair.

Replaced the blue red one but the new engine is faulty, spins freely but not strongly enough.

In the replacement kit there was a black white wired engine too and my thought was, to get my flying quickly, that if I swap it's wires I could use that one, right?
 
Yes just solder the wire and test it ,if its spinning wrong change wire over and test again
 
The other motor was identical with the first motor after having swapped the leads. Think they must have sent me a different engine type, or something else is wrong...
 
Hi I have had this on the Hubsan x4 when I ripped the wire out of motor in a crash it shorted the board and the new motor would not work, I had to replace the board you may have this problem with your too
 
The engines work, they are just not spinning as fast as the remaining three.... Could try swapping with one of the good ones to rule out the board but the copter has never been running without engine connected.

Hi Victor if 3 are new and spin faster then the others need to be replaced coreless motors dont last very long, they are made to be replaced a lot this is why they are cheap, some times we just need to look at is it cheaper to replace the motors or the quad

Another thing is you often want to buy them in sets at the same time, they are made in china; therefore consistency between batches is not the best.
