Hi All,
I am new to the community and looking to build my first custom drone though it will be relatively unique and I wanted to get some input if it is even feasible or what difficulties I will encounter.
I want to build something similar to the x8 drone (also called cinelifters), with two counter rotating motors per arm (one facing up and one facing down). I also want to have it be a hexacopter or octacopter or maybe more, so 12 motors or 16 or more. The motors I have chosen are the 8520 brushed motors.
The first questions I have:
- What escs should I use for the 8520?
- For a flight controller, is there a limit to how many motors I can connect to? Will I likely have to go down a custom route, and use arduinos or raspberry pis?
- If I go down a custom route, how difficult is it to get the flight software up and running? I assume I would use ardupilot or betaflight or something else?
This won’t be a racing drone or anything, I just want it to hover and move around with maybe a small pi camera on it. Any and all input is appreciated as I’m new to the hobby. Thanks!
