New to the forum and wanted to say hi!
Also hoping for a little bit of help.. Im pretty excited about getting into this hobby and Ive been researching a lot over the last month on what I want to buy. Ive decided on the new Diatone Crusader gt2 2017 model, goggles I'm going for the Dominator HD2 and the transmitter Im going for the Taranis QX7. All rather expensive but I figure I buy once and won't need to upgrade. Im aware that this Quad is fast as f and I know I will crash so I'll practice on a Sim and take it easy by limiting throttle in the transmitter and steadily progress.
Question 1
The batteries listed on the website for this Quad are they going to be ones I will stick with? Or should I order some bigger batteries?
Question 2
What recover would best suit this quad using the transmitter I have?
Question 3
What would I need to get so that my goggles work with this quad?

Thanks for any help, feeling a bit lost with the countless options for everything and don't want to buy something that won't tie in with everything else.

not relly good for your Qs as i have yet to receive my eyes .. for #3 afaik it's only a matter of setting the vTx on the quad to transmit on a channel and frequency that the goggles can receive. there's usually a list in the product information, you're just looking for a number that matches.

if you watch uavfutures on yt, he has a new video up about a drone by a NZ company he alleges is his new favourite.. talon iirc. 220mm. might be comparable, fligh video did look like it flew as well as he exclaimed.

Greetings DD, welcome,

The Crusader GT2 will run on 3S 11.1V or 4S 14.8V Batteries, as a beginner I would just get a couple 3S 1300mah 45C batteries. This will give you a softer and slower approach as you go through the learning curve. Then go to the 4S / 1800mah / 65C for a white knuckled ride.

( 3S= amount of cells / 1300mah = gas in the tank/flytime / 45C = discharge current/punch power.

I am assuming your are buying a BNF version of the Diatone, if you are building it, well lets just say this will be the first of many discussions during the process, if BNF it will come with the RX installed. I would check into the Taranis X9D Plus TX as it is the latest Taranis model out and there is a lot more information on YouTube a far as settings go, it and the Spectrum are by far the most popular.

I BNF is your route it will also come with VTX installed, I use FatShark Dominator V3, it has 8 VTX channels, you can also upgrade to a diversity module to allow an additional raceband, it is just a matter of cycling through the channels on the goggles, it will automatically see the channel transmitted by the VTX module and you will have FPV on that channel.

Just remember never power up your Quad and/or the goggles with no antenna installed, if you do you will heat up the VTX module in the Quad ( thus burning it up ) same with the goggles, always have the antennas installed prior to applying power.

Im actually wanting to buy the RTF to get straight into flying. I do plan on building as well but this will come further down the track when I know a lot more about the hobby.

Being a noob its probably best I go with the Taranis X9D as you suggested so I have access to more help.

Today Ive been researching a fair bit on goggles and I'm still really unsure what to get.. I want the full immersive experience which leads me to the HD2 or HD3 Dominators.. except Im reading a lot of complaints about them being blurry and not worth the money.
What are those V3's like?

I have no problems with The FatShark Dominator V3, clear video image, has a fan to keep lenses from fogging, 3 sets of optic lens inserts for people who may be near/far sighted, I Installed an optional Diversity module, this allows you to use both a Circular Polar and a linear antenna at the same time, reduces any potential video interference.

Just remember the GT2 is a fast quad, just starting out go slow and stay close, hate to see that thing fly away on ya.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I have put this list together and Im hoping everything will work together. If anyone can see anything here that I'm wasting my money on or doubling up your feedback would be appreciated.

Im still not 100% sure on my goggle setup. After lots of looking at reviews I decided against the HD3 as they don't seem t be worth the money. And because I have to purchase online without trying them I'm afraid they might be blurry for me. So I ended up deciding between the V3 because of what Quadkid said he uses and the SE because I like the 50 degree FOV. I decided on the SE because of the Uavfutures comparison video.

Also the antenna and diversity setup I'm not sure on either as Im not 100% sure on how all that poop works together.

Also not sure the batteries I chose are the best, I just seen them online and the price seems reasonable.

Any feedback is appreciated guys. :)
