FPV Frame......

Hi again guys.

I`m looking around at frames to build an FPV capable quad (or hex), I don't want to spend a mint on this as I'm only kind of probing whether or not I`d like it as a hobby.

so I found this little frame, seems pretty sturdy, not too expensive and you can buy replacement arms, Big thing is though as you fly FPV I assume that the nose of the quad tilts down as you go forward, and this frame doesn't seem to have much in the way of camera tilt possibilities, am I missing something? if I`m correct on my assumptions and frames that you guys have tested would be great if you show me please.

Welcome! Looks like a rugged beginner racer frame. Have you flown a quad before? If not, consider purchasing a RTF FPV quad like the Syma X5 or X8, or one of the offerings from Dromida or Hubsan. They retail for around a hundred bucks or so complete and repair parts are cheap and easy to find after you crash, and you WILL crash. They are less "twitchy" to fly as well. The one you're looking at will cost a few hundred to build by the time you get power, electronics, radios, camera, batteries and charger etc. Since you stated you are testing the waters of this really cool hobby ( no bias here), try the RTF route first and then jump into building. Once you've become addicted THEN go crazy like the rest of us. If you would rather jump in by building right away check out this website:

In particular view the build videos. The build hints are easily transferable to any future build you may consider. I would also suggest that a medium to large quad will be easier for you to fly instead of the quick little racers. Most important is to have fun!

I own a couple of Hubsans (bought as presents) You see I`m an Aircraft engineer, So the whole building of one appeals to me, Also I believe that if you build it you understand how to fix it better.

At first I will build it as just a quad to fly and get a feel for, then when I`m ready for the leap I will buy the camera, transmitter and goggles.

Please please feel free to add any advice on good equipment that is around.

Hi mate that frame is by Eachine.com on there site they do it a rtf for $178 a few of us looked at this and its a good frame so will do you very nice , one thing is as its 250 there is not a lot of room so you need every thing on the small side of things , but if you go to Eachine web site and look at the spec it will help you know what to buy to build it and your know it will work once built

Hi mate the problem is if you get a really cheap one it can be hard to get the quad to fly nice , so two ways to go cheap but good new one or a great second hand one , i dont know where you are so look at this programable radio its good as it has 3 way switches which your need on some FCB like the NazaM

Orange makes some pretty nice ones for really good price, and Turnigy makes a cheap 9 channel that is good quality.

Oh God..... My buddies are going cheap again...... HaHa! Seriously, cheap will bite you in the butt in the long run. As a aeronautics engineer you know this. Don't succumb to the dark side! Look thru the forum and you will find some amazing advice that will keep you out of trouble. In particular you can depend on GJH105775 and holtneil to always head you in the right direction. Consider them as the "brain trust" of the forum. I am of the opinion that you get what you pay for. Buy cheap Chinese stuff and be prepared to spend extra replacing it. To be fair, there is some good stuff from China. Just be sure to buy it from reputable distributors. My favorites for motors: best; KDE DIRECT, better; T-Motor, good; SuunySky. For ESC's: best; KDE Direct, better; T-Motor S series, good; ZTW Spider. For controllers: my favorite- XAircraft SuperX, next, NazaM. 3rd, CC3d or Wi II. I have used and am a big fan of the first two. I have not used the last two and can only base my opinion on the positive feedback of the forum members. Radios ( at least 6 channels) are a personal preference regarding fit and control "feel" that you are comfortable with. Remember. A good radio will be with you for a long time from model to model. Don't cheese on it. There are some other good products out there, but I can only speak to the ones I know. This forum has a wealth of information. Don't hesitate to ask questions.
