I have a 7" long range quad that I built a while back. Haven't got to fly it much. Furthest I have gone right now is about a mile. Anyway I flew around my property today. Basically low and close.
Let me tell you this thing is so smooth. I could fly it though such tight spaces with ease. MAN, so good. I was very surprised at how well it flew tight and low. I do have 1 secret weapon that made it very easy. I have a single axis gimbal that I 3d printed. I can change the angle of the cam mid flight. I have a 3 position switch that will switch from 2 set angles and adjustable on a POT. Basically I can go to zero angle when I want to and put around slow. I can hit a switch and go to an angel and go fast. I can also hit a momentary and look 35 degrees downward.
But so smooth.
No loss of signal around the house. 200mw on 2.4ghz. I did get some interference from the house but the signal never dropped form full.
Then it started raining...
