First Quadcopter build

Hi guys.

New here.

Ive messed around with rc before as far as helicopters, cars and a plane once.
Figured Id build me a quadcopter, could be fun.

Yes this is my first quadcopter. Ive read to start out small with a cheapo to get the hang of it and what not but I've messed around with flying before and I want a decent size quadcopter =D

The frame Ive picked out is about 26" is diameter.
Im going with the Hobbyking X666.

I guess from this point id like to know what else I all need or what is a good compatibility.

The Open Piolet and KK have the same features, but the KK is more popular, I'd suggest you get that and a flash tool.

I have the exact same motors on my quadcopter and can say that the quality is really nice, I am running 9x4.7'' props and lifting my 3ib quadcopter just fine, but I'd suggest you get 1000kv motors, in general the lower the KV the bigger the props. Note that the number before KV has to do with torque, these have pretty high torque for 1240kv motors. I'd suggest Mutistar or Turnigy brand (Mutistar is Turnigy) if you want some really nice quality build.

I suggest you get 30amp ESCs will allow for future upgrades and lots of head room, these can be flashed with Simon K if you wish, they aren't bad without it. Here is a great battery, it has a higher capacity, and is really light.

What type of budget do you have for the transmitter?

I actually have a couple of transmitters at home. Ill find out what brand they are and see if they will work with a quadcopter.

I defiantly want to keep that frame though. Love the look of it as well. Ill go with the KK and the 30a ESCs as you have recommended.

Its a Quanum motor. Are they any good?

Also what if i wanted to put a camera on my quadcopter? Any that are able to see through it with an app on an andriod?

You might look at some mutistar 980 or 1000. As for viewing with an app; I am afraid it would cost more to have any usable range than to get a quantum FPV set. You could use a phone if you have a video receiver that plugged into USB, and if you connected your laptop to your phone VIA wifi, or just viewed off your laptop.

Alright so what is going to be the best motor for this quadcopter then?
I want the lowest kv possible or what?

what about what motor is going to fit on the X666?

Also I have two different transmitters.
I have an old Century VII FM System and also I have a Skyport 4 transmitter.

Also what size propeller should I get?

Ive calculated that with the ESC's, the motors, controller, frame and a couple LED's that I'm at 1lb 12oz

Here is a nice full set.

I suggest you get 30a or 40a ESCs. This is for overhead and the ability to upgrade to bigger motors in the future

I think it depends on what are you planning to lift with the quadcopter, i think the bigger the payload, the higer the torque of the motor to turn a bigger prop. Usually a motor have a datasheet about how much the thrust it give with a certain prop and how much amps it draw. You can go from there. The total thrust of the 4 motors have to be 2x the total wight

Well I ordered all my parts Friday so things should arrive next week sometime.

will one of these receivers work for my quadcopter?
