First Quadcopter build: Did I select the right parts?

Hello,

I'm trying to build my first quadcopter and I'm looking for quadcopter parts at the moment.
I set up a small list for a basic First Build quadcopter:

I'm wondering if I missed something and if I would be able to set up my quadcopter and be able to fly it with those parts.

Also if those parts are right would this quadcopter be fast? And can it fight the wind outside?

It would be nice if someone can give me some tips before I even order my first parts :)

HI Klokklok, good list , but the radio is very basic , when you set up the FCB your need to zero the channels , as this uses trim tabs that can get knocked it will knock the whole quad out .You be better off looking at the clone DX6i

Also get the flash tool for the KK as your want to reflash with steveis1.8s1pro its very stable
as for props get lots of props you will snap lots

Allright I'm suprised I selected the right parts with almost no experience before. Also what does the flash tool exactly do? The props is a good idea I selected 4 extra now wich isn't that much.

Also I forgot to take a look into chargers wich one do you recomment?

I like the look of the frame with the tilted inward motor mounts.

That said I'd opt for the BG version.

You'll note it also includes a power distribution board, LEDs, 5V BEC and battery strap. I have no idea if it's made from the same material as the HK one.

Note how the cage can go on the bottom too.


As far as the transmitter keep looking, you'll need some switches and at least one 3way would be nice. Opt for at least a 6 channel. And without an LCD you need to plugging into a computer to do any major setting tweak (if it has any).

If on a strict budget this 6 channel one is only ~$6 more.

As far as batteries you can find a cheaper lower C rated one, you don't need a 40-80C discharge for your motors.

And don't forget some wire, red and black.

The frame from BangGood is perfect I was allready wondering where I should put my battery.

Also you are right about the transmitter if I wan't to continue building QuadCopters I really need a better transmitter so im going for the most recommended one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._Module_8ch_Receiver_Mode_2_v2_Firmware_.html

I'm gonna stay with the ESC I picked because the one you found are sadly out of stock. They aren't that expensive so when I'm ready for an upgrade I'll just get the other ones.

Also isn't there a receiver/antenna needed so you can actually reach the quad copter with the transmitter? Or is this build into the FlightController?

My budget is around 200 euro's/220 dollars.

You'll get a receiver with the transmitter, it has the antenna.

If you want a cheap but well built charger I'd suggest this, it will only balance charge (takes a whiles), but doing that your batteries will probably outlast your quad a few times over.

I have one and it does just what I need to do.

I didn't buy anything yet. I just want to make sure it works with my parts. The transmitters from hobbyking where nice but it added 60 euro's extra shipping costs so i decided to find one on banggood.com

Yeah, hobbykings shipping is a lot,have you tried getting everything from your nearest warehouse as apposed the international?

The one in the vid I posted doesn't have a 3 position switch but has some nice features, looking at Banggood's offerings this cheap one is lacking on most fronts.

The biggest deal breaker (other than the lack of a 3 position switch or pots) is that it's basically a helicopter TX. You want plane (acro) option.

So you are saying this transmitter isn't the right choise for a quad copter? Wich one do you recommend from banggood?

Smaller sized but quite advanced. Failsafes, expos/dual rates, throttle curve etc. More energy efficient and uses only 4 batteries.

That has the PPM RX, worth having. Less wires needed.

Regular PWM RX version.

Are those the right parts? I don't really want to order new parts after I have started building my quad copter this will take again weeks before I can resume my quad copter build.

That breakout cable looks weird. It uses an XT30 connector. The batteries you chose have a standard 'T' (Deans) connector.

Most folks these days tend to use the larger XT60 connectors.

Unless you want to solder an XT60 on both you'd be better to switch products.

A 20 amp ESC would be better than a 10 amp, really a 10 amp is a hair small, as you usually want 5 amps over your motor's max draw. This is so they will last longer, as heat is what kills electronics.

Why 5A? The motor is listed at 8A so a 10A ESC provides 25% more that that. I'm sure any engineer would find that sort of cushion more that adequate.
