First flight ever today. XKX300-W. Flying transmitter only. Got everything started, "binded," armed and ready. Got her up and hovering at about 5 feet. Pretty good wind from behind me, but the quad held position OK - for a while. Then it began to drift a bit. I tried to correct it. That's when things went south. It went back and forth for a while and then just seemed to take off on its own, straight toward a chain link fence about 100 yards away. I was unable to do anything. It crashed into the fence. The prop guards did their job. No prop damage. I replaced the prop guards and flew
again! (The crowd roared!)
Two more flight attempts. Got her up and hovering both times. My problem is controlling the quad once it's airborne. The instructions say to have the tail end facing you on takeoff. I did that each time. I guess the quad got turned around out there, somehow, which reverses what the controls should do, right? Anyway, that was my first flight. I look forward to doing it again next weekend.
I need some tips on how the joysticks on the transmitter work in order to be able to keep control of the quad while it is in the air. Are all transmitters basically the same? Two joysticks, left one does certain things, right does certain things, etc.? My instruction manual is not the greatest.
