First build specs! need a little help

ok so i am buying these things for my quad:

DYS BE1806-13 Brushless Motor for Multirotor (2300KV) 24g

TURNIGY Plush 12amp (2A BEC) BESC

2.4GHz Flysky FS-T6-RB6 FS RC Helicopter Transmitter Receiver 6CH 6Channel Radio

AfroFlight Naze32 Acro AbuseMark FunFly Controller

and all i need is info on what battery i should buy. id like it to last about 15-20 min at least. i plan on adding fpv on it if i can. please let give me some advice. thanks!

oh and i already have a frame. if im missing anything or if an item is not compatible with something on this list. please feel free to let me know. any other things i can add that are needed are also welcome.

Can you give links? FlySky seems to be coming up a lot. It is a knockoff of a Frysky, people seem I'd suggest you get the best Tx you can as you can always use it after, but if you are on a tight budget I'd get a Orange or Turnigy 9x.

Props and Power distribution board/cable. What type of frame do you have? Need to know the size.

If these are the motors you are getting you need at least a 12a ESC, and a 3S battery, I'd suggest 6x4.5 props.


I'd suggest 2200mah 3s Lipo.

BATT whats the biggest i can go without breaking the bank and a increasing the time to about 15-20 min per flight

Over all guys, i wouldn't really want something really fast. i would prefer something to fly like the DJI inspire 1 and i would also like it to be the same size or near it.
(flying shots start at 40 seconds)

If anything, the whole build can be scratched off if need be. If you guys have any suggestions for getting motors, escs, bec, PDB, and battery size for something that can carry a dji inspire (around the same price as the one im currently bulding eg. 180-200) it would be pretty cool, as id build that asap. i don't want to put a fancy camera or gps on it because they are expensive but i would like something big i could put 2 or 3 small lights on for night flying that i can enjoy anytime.

Yea i don't want to go that fast actually, i just want to do some simple flying that last longer than 14min. and build something similar to that new DJI quad that is coming out (dji inspire 1). I wouldn't put cameras on it or gps of any of the add ons it has of course. would the cc3d work? or the kk2? or is the naze32 regular fine? thanks

also, i wouldn't want it to be small. probably the same size as that dji quad

He may have set the voltage meter very low , or flown a little before the video, or (most likely) when he drew a lot of that current the voltage dropped to the meter for a few seconds.

I agree with not wanting something that fast for someone just starting out, you can adjust the gains and max settings to your liking.
Unless you are getting (OPTO) ESCs they have the BECs built in, so you should not need one. This one looks neat and minimizes wires.

I built a 270mm quad, here are my wishes, specs and regrets. It is not much/any more to get a 450m, which I'd suggest for FPV if you don't want to race. I should have built either a 250 racer, or 450 for heavier lifting.

I'd get KK2.1.5 if I wanted it to be easy to setup, but the KK is very limited.

Take a look at this chart of most flight controllers, has prices and features listed.

Notice that the Crius All In One PRO can do about anything with add-ons if you want to upgrade later, and it is REALLY cheap.

As for props take a look at this post around post 30.

Here is post 32 to just see the parts used.

Here are some 12x6 CF props $9.49 x2+ <---- These 6'' pitch props give a lot more thrust over the 4.7 or 4.5. If you have 6' inches of pitch on a prob don't get plastic, too much pitch and they have a high chance of exploding if you hammer the throttle.

I am getting a FlySky TH9X, and the same board for my first build. I have been told numerous times to flash it with clear flight and, it can be either docile as a newborn or as agressive as a seal team 6 member at the flick of a switch.

As for batteries, take a look at Value Hobbies in Chicago. I bought a 3s 2200 60a pack from them including connector for under $30 shipped! They also have a great deal on a charger for that LiPo!

@DrDiff Hey thanks for the tips and I will probably buy an acro in the near future when I build a quad for racing. thanks for the heads up on that site. ill check it out right now as I still need a charger(s)

@DrDiff I just checked value hobbies, and they seem to have pretty good prices on props too.
@Dave M what type of charger are you interested in? Also I think it is a good idea to go with either a acro/racer (like you did) or a lifting quad. This is because you cannot use the in between for either.
