First build setup, looking for feedback

Looking to build a relatively inexpensive quad. New to quads but I feel I've done quite a bit of research over the last couple days. I've put together a list of components that seem to create a somewhat inexpensive machine but still decent quality. Looking for feedback on any of the components to make sure everything will work together. Also, I assumed that going with a 250mm would be the cheapest route, but are there any reasons I should consider something larger? See any issues adding FPV and another camera at some point to a 250?

Welcome to the forums. Really nice build, you seem to have done a good bit of research.
Make sure to get two packs of bullet connectors, and a battery strap.
Here is the charger I use, nothing fancy, just gets the job done cheaply, it has a nice weight to it and feels solid. A 250 is not really cheaper than say a 300 or 350mm quad. Due to the motors being a bout the same. They are probably the most fun to fly, I'd suggest going ¬250 or ¬500 because 250 you can fly fast and loose, 500 you can lift and do more photography.

Thanks for the feedback GJH105775. I would ultimately be more interested in photography than racing I think so I'll take a look at a bigger build and see what the price difference is. I added the charger you mentioned to my list too. Looks like a good way to get started.

I'm really curious about the transmitter. Seems like the Turnigy has decent features for the money. Maybe not one of the top brands though. Thoughts anybody. I don't know that I want to spend much more on a transmitter but I'm open to other options.

Defiantly not top, but will have a distance of much further than you'll be able to see LOS. It has a lot of bang for your buck.


Spektruim (Great quality; Dx6i, Dx6, or Dx7)
Orange (great quality, cheapest on this list, and receivers work with most Spektruim products)
FrySky (makes a good yet cheap 9X probably the cheapest full range 9 channel Tx)

Also here is my build, it would probably hold something like a gopro. I have a lot of my regrets and whatnot listed. It could be useful. I wist I had went to a 12'' prop size rather than the 9x4.7 I use now. It would give me a little more thrust.

Forget a link to your build? After browsing some more, I'm thinking maybe a 450 is closer to what I want. Will price things out tomorrow to see if there's much of a price difference. I'll keep the larger props in mind as well.

Haha, I did this twice within minutes of each other. Here is the link, and I edited my post above.

As I figure you already know, larger props. 12'' props are usually on about a 940kv motor, often a little lower.
