Hi Everyone, new here and new to building quadcopters. I owned a Phantom 3 Standard for a while before I killed it in a wreck a few weeks back. I was going to get back into the phantom world but I decided I wanted to build my own instead of buy because I think i'll get tremendous satisfaction from building and flying more racing style quads.
So, long story short I found one on thingiverse, asked a few questions, and ended up selecting a set of parts that i'm not sure is right anymore. Usually i'm good about the research-before-you-buy thing but hey, it is what it is.
Here's what i've ordered:
- Seriously Pro Racing F3 Flight Controller
- Some 6 Channel transmitter off amazon, FlySky I think?
- Hubsan X4 Motors and Blades
- Hubsan Batteries
I have 100% access to several 3D printers and several filament types, so I'll be designing and printing my own frame as that's something I enjoy very much.
So my intent was to build a very small drone to fly inside and inside large buildings and maybe a little bit outside.
The more research i've done the more i'm realizing i'm probably missing things.
Questions:
- Do I need ESC's at all for this size drone? If yes, which ones as i've found plenty (12A, 20A, 30A)
- Will the flight controller even work with these motors and on a drone this size? I'll return the stuff and get brushless motors and ESC's if I have to.
- If this isn't even going to work, could you point me in the right direction? Specifically inexpensive brush-less motor recommendations and ESC suggestions and maybe a battery or two?
Thanks guys, sorry for all the text
EDIT:
Real Quick, here's the new motors and ESC's i'm looking at:
