ESC Burn-Out Problem

Hi,

I'm using LibrePilot to program my first first build. I was trying to calibrate the ESCs when one of them burned out in the process. The book says "listen for the beeps" which I took to mean keep going until the beeps stop. The beeps were still sounding after 2 or 3 minutes and that's when the ESC burned.

I've replaced the ESC but, before I try calibrating again, I want to find out what caused the fire. Was it a mistake I made or a problem in the quad? What could have caused the problem? I'd appreciate your help. I'm techno-impaired so make it as simple as you can, please.

We'll need a list of your components (ESCs, motors, flight controller) before we can diagnose the problem. Oh, and you will be questioned on the fact that you're using LibrePilot...

I'll put the list together as soon as I can.

LibrePilot was recommended because it's pretty easy to use. Can you recommend a better program for someone who's techno-impaired? Also, what's the problem(s) with LibrePilot?

Motor & esc seem fine amp wise. Sounds like it was a dodgy esc. Can't say I've heard of them. I crashed a few weeks ago & it took me about twenty or so minutes to get to it. I thought the motors or at least one of them would have been toast. But all OK. Beacon strength is on 45.
So don't have it too high as this is what kills components.motors are not supposed to do this.
