ESC advice

Hi all,

Im now about 1/2 way into building my first quadcopter, and am looking for ESC.

what do you peeps recommend

1) 4 way esc lick this on eBay

or
2) single esc for each motor.

info on my build is in this post,new to quadcopter need advice

I would buy 4 individual. If one goes bad just replace it. I am not sure if you can do that with an all in one.

Depends, some 4-in-1 ESCs you can, but in facebook groups I have been hearing of a lot of different problems with the 4-in-1 ESCs.

Use single ESC if u ever have a problem with one of the ESC in a 4 in 1 then u have to replace the hole thing and their a lot more expensive and a pain in the butt to make the diagnosis also if there is a problem with one of leads ;)

I have noticed a trend in the replies here. I agree the 4 in 1 ESC's suffer from pretty erratic quality control and single ESC's would be better. But it sholdn't be because you are expecting one to fail and it will be easy to replace. Look into using ZTW Spider 30A Small ESC's. They are 600hz, fully programmed(plug and play) opto and only weigh about 12g and cost about $13.00. They have proven to be bulletproof with excellent performance. You will need a UBEC. Castle Creations has a 10a one that is so quiet you could mount it on your Rx without any interference. I use these on my less expensive builds and I expect them to outlast the model. The trend proves its self on the 4&1 for failure and expense report s always an issue unless u can't tell someone the price of a gallon of milk u know what I mean so single esc's are much better way to go

I agree, if you expect it to fail, sure the ESC is easy to replace, but it is likely to fail while flying, is the quad also easy to replace? Not all 4-in-1 ESCs are this problematic, so if you do get some get some good ones hahaha. The ones @HDtallrider listed look great.

:D they do look good and no the quad is not lol but the esc's hdtallrider posted do look great I wanna know how much they are I saw a price for the 10a and they where 24.99 on the second link posted but for the 12a they didn't list a price just the specs and I have asked about on another form site I'm on and they have the same consensus about how sound they are I want some

What would you use a 3a ESC on with my motor and prop combo I should be pulling 10.7 amp at full blast

I believe you are talking about 2 different things. Noob9875 I think is refering to a ESC and RGJameson is talking about a UBEC, which is used to power the FCB for example. I use the castle because it does not cause electrical interference( no ferrite rings as a stop gap) and it can handle multiple accessories. They are $21 - $24 but you'll never have a problem. I suggested the 30a spider ESC's because they are small, light, fast and run cool. You can find them from $11- $14. Bulletproof.
