Erle Brain 1.1 hardware docs/schematics?

Hi,

I have inherited a hex copter with an Erle Brain 1.1 on it. Its OS appears to be shot. Does anybody know where I can find the thing's hardware schematics / which ICs are at which addresses / old OS images / whatever?

The Erle pages are offline, the images they stored on mega.nz are long gone …

Depending on how much you value time I'd say it's not worth trying to recover that, things have gotten cheaper/better in short order in the quadcopter world and STM32 processors have gotten better where they are still very low power consumption but fully capable ARM processors that are used in basically all modern FCs (Betaflight and iNav can both target many boards with STM32 chips at their core).

^^ few links I found about the 2.0 version of that FC that they made based on the Beaglebone which is like a Raspberry pi arguably better in some ways but both are relatively beefy. If it were me I'd check out the specs on the motors and see what condition frame is in but expect to replace FC with "kakute F7" or JBF7 or the F722 FCs out there and get some BLHeli32 ESCs. Also what do you plan to use it for? if manual flight you'll need a transmitter and receiver if automated flight you'll want to dig into iNav and would need at minimum a GPS module like BN880

Well if nothing else I could use it as a desktop test board for hardware experiments, servo control without the FC, and whatnot.

I have to agree about the heftiness of the thing …

Oh yah if just looking to tinker on the board then all good just wouldn't expect to get it all flying again given stuff gets dated quick and out of support... Regarding the board if take some pics of the chips can usually zoom in and see what you're dealing with, platformIO plugin for vscode can be setup with all sorts of toolchains to build/flash various boards so imagine can noodle together a config that can work.
