DM007 quadcopter... flies it one direction no matter how much I trim

Hi guys! Wanted to say hello at first. I bought this quadcopter to sort of get my feet wet. I can't seem to get this thing to do right. it actually tends to hover better once the battery has died a bit. when the thing is fully charged, when I go to lift off it takes off going to the left. I have trimmed it COMPLETELY over to the left and still can't get it from wanting to fly in that direction. I have torn up a bunch of props in the process because I can't get it to land properly of course. I can't really get the thing to stay in the air long enough for me to do adjustment to the trim while flying.

I bought a crash kit for this thing and it showed up in the mail. it has all of the replacement parts, including the motors. any ideas as to what I should do?

How is the weight distribution?

even as far as I know... there is no side that of the copter that has more weight on it than the other. this is a ready made quadcopter.

Even RTF can have those problems. Are you arming it on level ground, or does it have a way to calibrate the gyro (or accelerometer)?

as far as I know when you cut it on and sit it down... it calibrates. when i pull the stick up and then back down it beeps. I am assuming this is when it calibrates everything? the manual is very skimpy

Maybe, does it always drift the same way? If so try setting it down for sure level when you plug it in.

you have to turn the thing upside down to plug it in... there is no switch. it just cuts on when you plug it in.

it drifts in the same direction :-/

once the battery charges... I am going to try and plug it in on a level surface facing upright I have been flipping it upside down to plug it in

stupid question here... can I plug in the helicopter flat and upright and then turn it over to secure the battery? it is very difficult to get the battery in and out of this thing

Yeah, that should be fine.


Try that and see what happens. Do you have the quadcopter on for long before a flight?

Looking at it hard and slowly spin up your motors till it wants to take off, does one (probably on the left) seem to be dragging a bit? If so turn off the quad and fick it by hand (they don't spin like most toy quads though) and compare it to the others. Do they seem equal? If you notice one that seems to be dragging (when powered up or by hand), try replacing it.

You say you trimmed it going to the left? If it's going to the left, you actually want to trim it in the opposite direction...to the right to compensate.

All, I have had several flights with my DM007. Some long and some short. Able to fly hands-off. Now after several battery charges and flight attempts it does not fly stable anymore. I have been kinda writing it off to breezy days, but that is not the case today. I have had a few misshaps and have replaced a few props, but it is seeming that it is harder to lift off and very unstable.

I am thinking I might replace all props and try again.

Any suggestions?

"Binding" your quad is not the same as a re calibration process.

To me it sounds like your gyro is either faulty or, you need to re calibrate the quad.

1.) Power up quad and place it on level surface (very important)
2.) Turn on transmitter and make sure ALL trim adjustments are centered. (Very important.)

NOTE: if this quad has a high and low rate flight option, make sure it is on its highest rate.

3.) With transmitter in high rate (if applicable) and, both the quad and, transmitter on, proceed to move both sticks to the lower left hand corners (at the same time) until you see the lights on the quad start flashing and then stop on its own.

You have just succesfully re calibrated your flight board.

Hi Mike, yes sir I have tried recalibrating several times by moving both sticks to lower left and watching the LEDs flash.
My trim adjustments are button pushes, not a trim pot like the old rc controllers. I've never had issues before with stable flight. I'll keep trying. ..

Do you know if you have different flight rates or not?..If you do, it must be in high rates to calibrate properly...Push button trims are fine and ,you should hear a long beep when one is centered properly.

If none of that is working out for you, i can only suggest the flight board having become defective or, its possible one motor is experiencing bad performance.

Look for hair wrapped around the shaft or maybe a piece of grass or just debris in general which can slow the motors rpm's compared to the others.

I just flick the props to spin the motors over...If one seems it doesnt turn as quick or slows to a stop quicker than the others i personally would assume the motor was bad and, just replace it.

One thing that is quite often overlooked is proper motor lubrication...Some dry lube or a silicone spray might loosen up a sticky motor.

If all your motors seem fine and calibrating doesnt work for you im not sure what to say but its quite possible the flight board is going to be the issue.

Is it possible you've had the props off at some point to replace one and possibly mixed up one with its proper rotation?
