Hi there, probably a question that gets asked a lot but I couldn't find anything matching my criteria so thought it easier to make an account and post.
I've been messing around at home teasing the cat (she loves it) with one of those fpv micro quads for awhile and decided I might have a crack at building my own proper one. The real satisfaction and fun in this will be the designing and building but I want a decent and usable end product.
I have CNC mills and lathes at work which I can use and a 3D printer at home so I will probably machine the frame from aluminium and covers from ABS, with half a thought to upgrading to a titanium frame in the future or just building something better once I get better/if my interest sticks.
I thought it would make sense to start by picking motors and ESP's first then design the frame and the rest of the kit around those and size accordingly. I've read a few bits and bobs but looking round at suppliers for this type of gear there's hundreds or thousands of combo's to choose from with prices ranging from bugger all to a kings ransom, and I've got myself in a bit of a muddle trying to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Characteristics I want from the drone are easy to fly, easy to hold altitude and control, stable, able to withstand a bit of a gust without much drama, longer flight times would be nice but not essential. I'm not interested in having the fastest thing in the sky, going to 20,000ft or hauling an SLR around with me. Just something to have a bit of fun and let mates have a go with, without spending too much on top of the range gear that will likely get beaten and abused.
Will budget around £100 for a set of four motors and ESP's, less is better, can stretch to more if neccesary and worthwhile for the application. Any reccomendations?
Cheers
