Dithering, which way to go digital dji, or something else ?

Hi, another old newbie here.

Currently I only have a couple of toy drones. I have poor eyesight and the only goggles I can get' an opticians prescription lens for, is the DJI digital goggles. Which means I have to go DJI.

If I have to have those goggles, should I opt for a complete DJI set, Digital Goggles, Remote 2, and a DJI digital compatible drone?

Does any one know if DJI digital goggles can be used with other NON DJI ready built drones, and can the remote control be used with other NON DJI ready built drones?

I really like the idea of being able to whoop indoors, and DJI don't seem to make any small enough drones.

Which begs another question, do the DJI digital goggles require a heavier drone, for a stronger signal and bigger battery requirements.

I only want to buy one set of goggles, for both indoor/backyard fpv-whooping/freestyle, and general exploring with a heavier drone.

Hiya yup this can work fine actually. There are a few adapter sets out there that allow you to hook up a regular analog receiver to the DJI goggles so they can actually act as both Digital and Analog goggles if willing to dump a bit more money into the money pit

So with one of those adapters can use an existing tiny whoop with it's analog TX and RX and the new fancy goggles with your corrective lenses in there.

Also there are some third party DJI digital VTXes that are smaller than the DJI air unit from CaddX. You could build a smaller drone with digital but I think really anyting smaller than 3" and you are best off using analog still just because of power/weight/heat difference in flying environment etc.

I have a custom built quad with iFlight frame emax motors and a DJI air unit but separately use a Jumper T16 transmitter and Frsky receiver for the control link so no issue with doing that either really except can't control air unit functions as easily from the TX I guess (FC does have two way communication with the air unit though so on screen display elements mostly work as you'd want for showing quad battery voltage etc.)

That's great about the adapter, would you know if it has to be swapped back to fly digital?

I've just caught this and am considering it, by the time it comes out I may have the finances for it.

Although I'm still not sure about the radio, can it bind with non DJI drones?
I've seen some good reviews on the T16, although I have tiny hands, kiddie sized, xtra small womens size, and am not sure how well I'll handle the T16. The DJI, BetaFPV and Emax tinyhawk 2 kit radios, look as they may be easier for me to handle. I've NO idea where to find advice on this issue.

I do also love the look of the tinkhawks 2 both the freestyle and whoop. I was very tempted with the RTF kits with goggles from BetaFPV and Emax, until I heard they're not great if you need to wear glasses.

Being a newbie, I'm not loving the idea of dropping so much money on the goggles, but I think your links made it a little easier, so thank you very much.

Yup I actually have one of the adapters but haven't hooked it up yet just cause want to print or otherwise get and put some sort of mount on the goggles but should basically be able to select if seeing digital feed from goggle receiver or switch to the input the analog module uses to feed video into the goggles.

Regarding Jumper T16, it's what I use as well and like mine plenty really. It does burn the rechargable 18650 cells faster than I'd like but otherwise it's a solid transmitter. The hand size shouldn't be a major issue honestly I'm also not a big person (only like 5'4" and 125lbs wet) but if sitting down or using a neck strap then only really interacting with the sticks and only need to flip switches usually just during take off and landing. You can still pretty easily grip it if need be but personally like to find a place to sit down while flying usually so I don't feel like I'm going to fall . There can be some real radio range advantage to getting your receiver antennas/head higher in the air though and clear of trees above you.

Yup I have the hdos that came out before these attitude oled goggles but do really like the oled, having the high contrast is nice for sure.

I'm going to hang back, see what happens with DJI's new FPV RTF kit.

If I find somewhere in the UK that I can get Emax's TinyHawk2 whoop, RTF Goggles, drone and controller KIT, I'll get that.

Although atm, it seems there is NOwhere reputable in the UK that has it in stock.

Yah it's a waiting game on CPUs and GPUs right now too everything new and worth getting out of stock, ah well should be a better year in 2021.
