okay this sucks since i only just ordered my starter quad
and there's no glory in being the fuddy duddy
i ordered an eachine e011 to start with - motors are listed at 60000 rpm
this is obviously not what's happening at the prop because we *wouldn't be able to hear it* but it is still obvious to me from the drones that fly around here and the videos that these guys put out high levels of high frequency sound
when you're young and resilient this doesn't seem like a big deal - if your ears ring from a concert, you recover in a day or so.
i work in audio, and let's say hearing - attrition - isn't a function of immediate causality. if you beat up your ears the effects may not manifest for years. you also get accustomed to high dB really quickly, and most people don't notice *ear fatigue* until headaches (fortunately tiny whoops don't have that kind of fly time).
what i'm saying is if you spend much time in relative proximity to what you're flying, i'd recommend a pair of cheap foam earplugs, or just wearing headphones. stick something in your ears, especially indoors. these are high freqs, they don't penetrate, but they can mess up your ears, even if it's inaudible to you.
