As a beginner I'm really sorting out my options as the choice is overwhelming.

my question is, if my theoretical end game is racing am I right to belive that I want to outfit a 250 frame?

If you want to get into racing, find out where they are held in your area. Usually a series of races that go on all summer, just go to one and check out what everyone is flying. There'll be different classes for 250 frame, under 250, spec and mod classes, all different classes for beginners and experts. And don't worry, the guys racing are typically very friendly and will be happy to let you check out their gear and answer any questions you have.

Thanks for the responses guys. As for the racing, it looks like I'll have to recruit before I can do any actual racing, My area apparently has no organized forum/community for this. At least not that I've found. Maybe i'm looking wrong.

I'm in Edmonton Alberta, Canada and I've yet to pull up anything I can use. I was hoping to find something to maybe go out and see what the drones are like in person, get some advice and stuff like I did with Airsoft back in the day, but I think i'm alone on this one. Even though theres supposed to be a big race held here. (read it on some article)

If you're in Edmonton, I'm sure there's a few flying clubs in your area. Another place you'll find guys flying multicopters

From what I can see its mostly Planes and Helos.

FPV racing doesnt seem to be organized, but there are stores that sell the peices. . . . at a price lol.
