Cheerson CX-20 Propeller And RTH Help

Hello, I recently got the Cheerson CX-20 and the Self-Locking propellers from the DJI Phantom to go on it. I did some research on the propellers and saw that they are usable on the Cheerson. However, when I put them on, it seems that some stick out more than the others even though I tightened it the most it can go. There is pictures of it attached to this post. Also, my biggest problem is that when ever I hit the RTH button, it starts to come back to me and then all of a sudden looses power or slows down and crashes to the ground. This has happened twice and the second time it did a good amount of damage. I'm not sure if it's defective or I accidentally hit the throttle (even though I thought that when in RTH mode, using the throttles have no use whether you put them up or down or whatever). Does anyone have an answer to this? I have gone through 2 sets of propellers so far (The default ones, which broke from the first RTH fail, and the Self-Locking DJI Phantom ones, which just broke from the second RTH fail)? I am almost ready to just replace it for another one.

Are your new props authentic (~$30 a set)?

I have one, I don't think your calibrating in loitor mode, GPS isn't locked on.

Your props should all be the same length. The screw on DJI props work fine. I use the originals

Yes theirs a lot of information on RC.groups, but the users aren't very helpful. I had better luck with google.

I just got the Quanum Nova. HK's version of the CX20. I've only flown it a couple of times and it has performed as advertised so far. Read over this website review.

The last part is interesting. Apparently there were many clones sold here as Cheerson's in the past. These had a lot of problems. The reviewer believes this newest version with the 3dr controller has solved all those issues and is not a clone. I don't know which one you have or how you even tell if it's the real deal.

Hi,

My CX is also crashing when pressing the RTH button. This happened to me twice so far and I am really frustrated. I suspect my battery is faulty and glitches which makes the drone crash. From the video footage the props seem to stop for a sec, sending the drone in a deadly spiral. The power recovers but too late for saving it. Did you make any progress ?

Hey Max! Welcome to the forum. I would take Timritchieblue's suggestion and google Cheerson CX20 help videos. You can also contact Hobby Kings help line. Just tell them you have a Quantum Nova. If you are still having problems then start a new thread on the Forum in the Newbie section and ask for help.
I don't think your battery is the problem unless you are at the very end of its charge when you have trouble. Before doing anything else, remove and then replace the batteries in your Tx. That should reset it. Do the calibration over again paying close attention to the compass calibration part. The GPS depends on that being done right and the RTH depends on the GPS being locked on. Use an open space and fly around gently until you see that the GPS has locked on. This can take from 1 to 5 minutes depending on conditions. Once you are sure it is locked, try the RTH feature from say 50' away and 6 or 8' up. If it works, keep extending the distance and altitude until you're comfortable. If it doesn't, then hit the net. It has a lot of CX20 trouble shooting help. Good luck!

So 2 times and that is enough for an accurate assessment. You've tried all the features and found then to work well?

That's not a review, just a puff piece parroting sell copy. I doubt the reviewer had even flown it or any quad for that matter.

If by clones are you saying that some outfit is making knockoff replicas and selling them as CX-20s? I don't think so.

Jackson. Did you notice that the posts you're addressing are months old? My reply was a comment related to previous posts. Not a "review". The Nova was new and I took it out a couple times(2 3000mah Multistar batteries each time) and that"so far", key words there, mine was doing fine. With the exception of Mission Planner, which I have no desire to use, nearly 2 hours of flying is more than enough to decide that "so far" it works "as advertised".
Regarding the article on "clones" of the CX20 it made sense to me at the time. Still does, actually. In June I had received fakes, copies, clones, whatever you want to call them of SunnySky 2212 motors from China. You may recall there was a lot of online chatter about the Chinese knock offs in the market. I don't see why a CX20 couldn't be a part of that. The Chinese have been pretty unscrupulous in their dealings with us.
Lastly, you have decided that all the CX20 owner/members on this forum must be idiots. All based on a comment I made that you misread. Instead of trying to bring people down and insulting their integrity, mentor them. You obviously feel you have a lot of knowledge to impart so do it in a more helpful way. Not being talked down to is why I and many others prefer this forum to the more pretentious ones.
