Cheap china 250 racer - cc3d settings

Hello everyone, I'm new to the board and to RC's in the air!

I bought and learned to fly (still pretty inexperienced really) with a hubsan x4, I really enjoyed myself so I decided to get a hobby grade quad. Being on a budget and having no experience with the electronics I ended up purchasing an assembled 250 racer from China.

To my surprise there was no documentation for it at all. So I was able to figure how to get it unlocked and have flown 3 batteries of test flights, I am starting to get used to it now.

However I don't know what switches do what on my my remote other than the 4 chnls used for flying. I have a flysky fs6 radio which has 1 3 position switch on it, I assume that is the flight mode. However when I switch it from 1 to 2 I don't really notice a difference.

I've watched a couple of videos on the set up of the cc3d, and it prompted me to go look at what mine looks like. I installed openpilot and hooked a mini usb into my controller. I can see it is connected when I move my quad the horizon and direction change, but nothing is set if I look on the configuration tab to see what channels are mapped to what setting, I wanted to look at the configuration tab on the bottom and input pic on the left, and flight mode and switch settings at the top, to see if it was the 3 position switch or another 2 position switch, but nothing is there. every field is blank.

I don't want to reprogram the whole thing just look at what is set up.

What am I doing wrong? On the firmware tab I do not see my controller, on the configuration tab I click on hardware on the left and it says this panel will be updated.

Help me understand please?

Hi mate sorry to say not a lot of us use cc3d , they do have a user forum of there own so that may be worth a look

First off is it the FS-i6 that you have? As that one has a 3 position switch. The standard FS-T6 does not.

Either way you need to into the TX's menu. Under Setup go to Aux. channels (5 and 6) and assign the the 3 position switch (it will be marked, on mine it's labelled SWC) to one of them. Default has them set to the 2 pots. Then run through the Transmitter setup again flipping the newly assigned switch when Openpilot asks you to do so.

Thanks for your reply. Yes you are correct it is the FS-i6. Ok so it looks like my chnl5 is already set to swc (the 3 position). In open pilot can I do just the radio set up and not mess with any quad settings? Other than the flight mode I am happy with how it flies.

You should be able to go to just the rx/tx setup and set it up how u would like and if u would like to do lots of reading on the cc3d u can go to openpilot.org and there is loads of great info from the openpilot community. You can set ur 3 position switch to altitude areo and raditude with is a combo between the altitude with self leveling and the areo withch allows u to do flips rolls but will still self level if u are not ready for the "expert mode " i have a cc3d as well and have had to take a crash course in all the build and programming i am doning a scratch build qav250 my self and will you do me a favor plz I really need a favor @Joe Saylor can u take pic of the wiers going in to the rx so I can go off ur color coding on the wires from the FC plz m8 thanks much hope u get everything straight and as I build and play I'll make a new thread for us cc3d guys/gals to be able to fine tune and set different flight modes and such with the different PID values

I can't get a good pic that is in focus, but mine run yellow, red, brown. Yellow on the inside with the numbers 1-6 on it, red is the middle, and brown is the outside you can see the usb connectin on this side. All 4 channels have the same color pattern.

are you talking about inside Openpilot or on the radio set up?
I was never able to get the cc3d recognized, and by that I mean I never got my hardware screen to look like this
or my input to look like this.... its blank

same with this.... it is blank


I was wondering if I was missing something somewhere like an import settings from FC button or similar.

BTW a thread for cc3d owners might be nice

You really can't go by the wire colors as they are often vary from what the original CC3D uses. You need to look at the connector and follow the wires down.

Here's how the CC3D is laid out.

Here's the harness note where the where wires start from.

Going from the first diagram, counting from the top, #1 cable is Throttle, #2 is Roll/Aile, #3 is Pitch/Elev, #4 is Rudder/Yaw. #5 and 6 are the auxiliary channels.

You now can match them up to whatever naming/numbering scheme your RX has for those channels. For example for Flysky RXs cable #1 will go into the #3 slot of the RX.

Yea I know they varie that's why I wanted to see his setup and thanks for the close up of the harness I didn't know it was as simple as 1234ect I didn't know if any of the wires crossed

And that's a perfect pic I have same colors and I am so close to finishing my build motors and last ESC should be here today and batt ,rx/tx, props and charger anyday now ha-ha so ready

Yah think? For me It matters quite a bit actually. You'll now have to draw up some sort of road map to try and note which channels relate to what on the CC3D. And you now are forced to always use GCS to do the bulk of your tweaking. I like using my transmitter for tweaks/adjustments. Many times while in the field I'm able to make fast quick tweaks using the transmitter, a little here or there till it feels right all in a matter of minutes. Yaw is yaw, roll is roll, no crib notes required. Also not all transmitter options are available for all the channels, throttle curve quickly comes mind, Flysky only offers that option on channel 3 (throttle), period, you have chosen to link CC3Ds official throttle cable with Flysky's aileron channel (you are a Flysky user I think). Why? The thought of dragging a laptop around and having to always plug and replug in multiple times does not appeal to me.

Matching up the correct channels isn't brain surgery, although a bit convoluted the explanation given earlier shows the way.

Yea I suppose so I know there is a couple different ways u can go about it if u have the Bluetooth moduel u can tune off ur smart phone on ethier apple ios or Android I don't like the idea of taking my laptop to the field and having to hook up to tune bit for me though I'm not at that point to be needing to tune.. And as far as the rx setup when u go through the transmitter setup wizard it will assign the channel and auto correct so to speak
