Charging 7.4v LiPo from Car's 12v system

Hi Hal there are field chargers but any 4 button Lipo charger will take 11 to 18 volts , but you need to be careful you don't pull to many amps through the ciggie lighter socket your melt the wiring your best off clipping it to the car battery direct just don't run it so low your car won't start but most will cut off at 11 volt input

That looks like its unnecessarily technical, holtneil...I'll just buy a couple spare flight batteries and charge all 3 at home before going afield!

I'm used to doing such electronic tune-ups as calibrating the Right Ascension tracking rate of Computerized Astronomical Telescopes. The rate is precisely 15 degrees per hour of sky rotation. Set the scope on the object of interest and the computerized drive will track it from horizon to horizon...no "bumping" the scope every 2 minutes!

Nice telescope Hal ,what I ment was most use a Lipo charger at home that runs off a power pack as they are DC so will run off a car battery with no problems

BTW, Mr. Moderator...that 8" scope was my smallest Astronomical telescope. I've also owned 10", 11" 12" 16" 17.5" and 20" scopes...some tracker types and some manual. Here are p1cs:

A couple years ago, I started getting into astro-photography, but never pulled the trigger on gear as it was too expensive for me at the time. So I only did multiple long (10-15 second image) exposures with my DSLR on a tripod. Definitely something I want to hop back into someday.

Yes, a quality telescope is expensive. The one shown was custom made for me, and had a light-grabbing 20" mirror!
I had over $7000 wrapped up in that scope, and it wasn't even a tracker! The 6" Finder scope mounted on it was a great little scope in its own right!

I don't know much about telescopes but I have used wheelbarrows. I noticed yours has 2 wheels & think that is a good design for the load. Therefore I deduce the rest of the assembly is also well made.

Yes, the rest of the scope is definitely well made! The 20" primary mirror alone cost over $3000. I also added wheels & handles to the 16" Meade Lightbridge as well.
