CC3D question for new for ZMR 250 build

Hi all I am new the forum and to the quad community. I Just ordered ZRM 25o kit to build a FPV quad. I currently have a Latrax Alias and enjoy flying it but I have some concerns going into the FPV build. The main concern is that my skills on expert mode are terrible, for those that don't know, expert mode turns off all the auto adjustments and does not level on its own. I have been practicing but keep burning up motors. On fast mode I am decent and in control so is there a way I can set the flight controller to auto-level in Open Pilot for my FPV? I ask this so that I don't destroy my quad before I get a chance to fly it. Is this something that is a common practice or a fpv quad no no?

I suggest you turn stick scaleing down a bit and learn with only stabilization. The self-level can be hindering later, and it does not hold it steady.

Of course. And there are many stabilization tweaks.

any how - to on this? I have googled but am not finding much no it. Sorry this is all new to me. also looking for groups in NC to get with to learn.

CC3D has a great setting that is good for learning. The easiest setting is called "attitude". this is completely self leveling and VERY easy to fly. The "expert mode" as you call it is called "rate". In this mode the Quad only does what you tell it to. Go forward, it pitches forward, but center the stick again, IT STAYS PITCHED FORWARD. Enter RATITUDE. Its a mix of "Rate" and "attitude". It will auto level, but does allow for flips, once you are comfortable enough to do that. There is even some nifty programming you can look up on the open pilot wiki, to configure "cruise control" and help learn flips and rolls. I have used this, and it helped my confidence build enough to only fly in "rate". But in my opinion, this should be used only as "Training wheels". If you want to race or do stunts, Learning Rate mode is the best way. Its not as hard as it seems, Just like everything else, it takes some practice. Using Ratitude just becomes a handicap if you let it.

on this subject is anyone familiar with a setting that reverses the controls when on the transmitter when flying towards yourself. I heard someone mention this the a few days ago but I feel that it would be bad practice. thoughts?

I think what you are referring to is called OIC or orientation control. My understanding is this can be turned on and off by a switch, and if you loose with direction you are going, it makes whatever way is pointing at you, back. I know DJI uses a similar thing on the Phantom series, But that's all the experience I've ever had with it. IMHO, if you are flying FPV, you will know what way points forward always, unless you loose video feed...

I see, if you are looking forward then there is no use for it. It would also form bad habits. thanks for all the info.
