I need some help. I have played a little with WLtoys v959 quad, I love flying around. So I got my gentlemans parts big and I have decided to build one. i really think it should be amazing process. Now after spending 8+ hours on the internet, browsing various catalogues and here is what I came up with (used hobbyking)

Right, now the fun part - questions.

I think I have everything I require, can you please advise if the parts are properly compatible?
Is there anything I should change?
I think I cannot use v959 controller for a custom quad? It is crappy I believe.

Welcome to the forums. Overall I's say you have a great build.

If I were you I'd get a little bigger ESCs, you should have a little over 5 amps higher esc than max motor draw. a 12a or 15a would be good. Make sure they don't say "(opto)".

Great choice on matching the Motors to the props. The battery seems to be about the right size for this build. The LEDs can be plugged into the same place as the motors (they will just rob power off that buss, no info).
The radio, and reciever give you the best bang for your buck, it is not as high quality as some, but you REALLY get what you pay for IMHO.

These are my thoughts/opinions on your build, make sure you have extra props, because these minis chew through them if you are flying indoors, or around a lit of trees, if you are flying in a big field you don't break many.

Hi mate welcome to the forum, as George said up the ESCs see if you can get the ones flashed with BLheli or Simonk this makes the throttle smooth and faster to respond
Mini quads eat props so make sure you have loads of spare ones , balance them up ready for use
Why 2 different battery spec stay with the bigger one, as flight times will keep changing if you use different ones and your forget one day and crash due to battery cut out

Ok, HK has probably the most complete selection, thier shipping is not very good though. If possible order from the nearest warehouse. Try to get everything possible from one store, which will probably be HK.

Currently I am trying to figure out the ESC's, but I have little to no idea about programing everything up. All this is really complicated for me, but I will keep trying!

Wow, that is pretty cheap to be all inclusive RTF. The bottom is really cheap for someone getting started on a budget. I do like that the motors have a "-Max Trust: 460g"

. As far as the hardware goes though it uses the cheapest parts possible. If you don't have a problem with that it could be a good build, as it is hard to beat that price.

First your frame looks to be better. The TX/RX are poor quality (from appearence) and seem to be a knockoff of a FrySky. Once you buy it you can fly it out of the box, as it has been tested (wouldn't you like to have that job ). This one has a CC3D, which a lot of people like better than the KK. It really is a matter of preference, but the CC3D has more customization and you can easily upgrade it later. Battery is cheap china off brand, I think. Never seen a clear one, and they did not mention the name.

MutiWii is often preferred to the KK also. The ESCs are "Mystery brand", so they may not be very good, but they are flashed with Simonk.

Thanks for the answer! I am worrying that all the programing is going to be difficult for me to do. I will most probably change KK board with CC3D. What ESC's I should choose instead of 10A ones I selected?

By the way, I have talked to hobbyking support and it seems my order is from Hong Kong warehouse, meaning I will have to pay huge customs fees ~25-30%.. I think I wil have to re-do everything from stock available in EU warehouse

The KK board is probably the easiest to setup and use. (Only70% sure about this) If you put the firmware on it you really don't have to adjust anything. I have a KK 2.1.5 and it was easy to setup, my flash tool is still on back order, but even stock the KK was easy to setup. I just watched a video online on what does what and adjusted it. After you get the initial setup done you can later tune it to your satisfaction. The problem Ihave with the KK is that it is limited, no RTH(Return to Home), or anything else that requires a GPS.

Also HoltNeil, what is your opinion of the KK mini supposed to have all of the same functions as the full KK. It was made for minis and micros.

Hi I can jump on now the mystery ESCs are ok had them on a 450 never failed once and its still flying , the only thing is the FCB they can be a pain to set up and get working right , I dont like the power board on the belly will get broken in a crash , and may short the lipo out
The KK mini is just as good as the full size , they do need flashing to make them fly nicer

Are they mystery brand, xD. By mystery ESCs I thought they meant they don't know what they are. Why have the KK2.x.x and a Mini line to sell? The mini just looks like a condensed KK2.1.0 board.

Hi George no mate mystery are a make they make clones like helis etc , They make lots of RC parts
As for the boards the KK board came out a long time back and we did have 250 racing quads, they were all 330 and bigger we didnt even have FPV
But now we have so much more to try and fit in a frame ,the mini board we born and the kk just followed what people wanted
