thought i was going to have this together (well, tentatively, you know how sometimes in life you're concerned things might not work out, with this hobby i get concerned that things will work, since you figure there's a 99.99% chance they won't. i mean.. my 110GT has been sitting here grounded for .. what feels like a couple decades now)
but i learned that 8.5mm brushed motors indeed have their own size shaft and do not share a common diameter with 7mm brushed motors.
i took the 8.5mm motors out of the package and couldn't tell them apart from 7mm. i wonder what kind of person says, "i know, i'll make these nearly identically sized motors require their own proprietary shaft accessories".
it's kind of silly haha to think that in a human society i could mount a 7mm prop on an 8.5mm motor, as if somehow things would be designed for convenience rather than taking into account the full girth of the shaft if you know what i mean. real thickness.
i just do this out of habit, as if somehow some person on the internet is going to read it and say, i know, i won't obfuscate human processes and i will instead attempt to implement integrated paradigms that can correlate and interface with various others instead of making everything ruddy difficult and tortuous.
i know, i know, you've got to get your 0.2mm differential there.
now that i put it that way it does kinda feel bad
i could be having fun with a whoop, but someone i didn't know used 0.2mm to take it away from me for today. and for a couple weeks until those props i ordered last week show up, if they ever do the last ones didn't.
well person i don't kjnow, i hope you enjoyed sitting back and deciding that you'd made a good discretion there, to go with your 0.2mm difference. that's shrewd, expert thinking. you're a pro, who cares about my weeks of whoopfunlessness. certainly not you hahaha! and all the other poor children, waiting and waiting because their motors and props are ever so slightly different but if they fix them then when the real stuff shows up it will be ruint. not clever salesmanship, skillful wounds. all the children bleeding out their eyes in agony waiting for the internet pages to load because of your twenty percent of a millimeter.

i would say the thing with this pastime is if you are a beginner buy two of everything you think you're going to need and don't do anythin guntil everythnig shows up because if you *think* you can do something before then, you'll need to order more parts so that hwne the parts you were waiting for show up you won't be able to do anything until the new parts you need get here, and if you try and do anything then, it will continue.
i think it's been four weekends now that this hobby has wholly consumed my three day weekends eg. three days of work and each period has made not a whit of difference in terms of my ability to actually get anything into the air. i learn things sure but then i need to buy more stuff.
the reason i say buy two is because any time you try and do something yourself you'll find out about that thing no one told you about, and then you'll find out about that other thnig no one told you about after that. i come here and chat and casually mention "oh and i'll put these props on here" as an example and *nobody* says, "oh hey you cannot do it like that" you just find out and need to spend more money.
i still have not a single feasible aircraft and, aside from four drones, radio, goggles, charger et al i've spent a good $100 on little packets $1.26 at a time that arrive a ta ocntinuous rate in my mailbox.
then my weekends come finally after a grueling week of arizona sun and i spend all weekend doing the thing. at the end of the weekend, it turns out it made absolutely no difference, but i learn a little tiny bit about how to do it next time.
eg. i have bought a $100 drone, which was a great experience to find out what to do next time i buy a $100 drone. you think that's what the internet would be for to tell you these things but your drone will skate upside down on rocks. it's reasonable, no one else has rocks they have grass so they don't worry about telling you that.
i thought, i'd make a big list of all the things no one told me aobut, but i've been doing this for about six weeks (that was about the time i lost my second e011 iirc??) and that list is so bloody long i wouldn't have a clue. tyhis entire pastime is a trick, there is no andyrc, there is no rcmodelreviews, these people are actors to entice you to order things. there aren't even quads, its all done by holograms and modeling. no one tells you how to configure the switch to arm the quadcopter you just wrecked your wallet on, they just say make sure you bind it, then, having problems? use a simulator dude.

for one thing, no one is going to tell you about JST connectors.
never try and be slick and buy motors that don't have plugs, it's not worth the money you save. it's too fiddly, your eyes aren't fifteen anymore.
you will need micro JST connectors. to connect your micro JST of course! it's the microest one i've ever seen for sure.
at osme point you will need them. no one tells you. you will.
no one tells you how to shop for them. you have to figure that out. no one says "the JST on this board is a ____" you have to look at the picture a lot and guess and guess and finally after feeling dizzy make some kind of decision or you start to weep inside.
JST connectors are discretised, apparently, by the number of pins, they are discretised by the spacing between pins. the e011 uses 2mm micro JST for power and 1.25mm micro JST (both 2-pin) for motors. it's like sawing your johnson off with a wet budgie trying to find out that they are that kind. and what do people on the internet say, "oh dude JST connector" in the meantime you will spend about four weeks looking at those silly pictures on the JST product pages where they give you the length width and height of the JST socket as if that is goin gto help you decide what the freaking gondolas the kind of connector on your item is.

here's another one you go to order a battery for your quad but the connector is a 1.5mm micro JST when what you have otherwise is a 1.25mm micro JST. you can go back and look at the battery page if you like, it will nto tell you, hey sucka this is a 1.5mm JST you just have to suck it and see.
all these extra parts you buy that you don't need because you only needed the part that goes with the other part could have been beautiful trees growing in a lovely valley where you could copulate in ecstasy like a shampoo commercial but instead all of that NO! it's gone, because you have to order thousands of little packages in your mailbox none of which will ever make a difference to getting anything in the air.
i hope you are really anticipating doing a lot of time thinknig with your head or lsitening to boreing old records while your hands are busy working and working and your eyes are squinting with all these small meaningless packages that are the only way of finding out NO ONE TOLD YOU ANYHING ABOUT THIS STUFF THAT MEANS ANYTHING because they are little plastic boxes just smiling away. the world is gone now just carboard and shreds of plastic and you are sitll gonig ot have to watch some kid fly loops around his house on youtube because you'll never get anything in the air. why oh why. can't you all band together and resist and say, it's good! just go with the same freaking diameter motor shaft, it's not such a big deal and it will make some poor bugger on the internet happy some day. no one thniks of that but me.

but the interesting thing, is, if you need a 1.347mm with .41 pins 18 metres wide, you can find it if you look under "spare parts for ____" for 89 cents but it won't be under micro JST connectors will it because it doesn't say that it just is it. little happy squares. i want to be like you. plug in, two giant spikes right into my eyes no wonder they are so square.
i've developed a significant speech impediment thanks to this. it's a glorious manifestation of what i am feeling inside that no one can ever touch or take away from me. you'd feel really uncomfortable listening to that kind of dysfunction like shudder omg get it awaaay because it's real life it's real life.

thank god i spent that three days gonig through betaflight two weeks ago to get my software back to where it was out of the box. thank god for all of that because you can see now from here, just what a difference it has made to my ability to fly any of these fine products. understand real life. understand i think it was may 20th? i ordered the first one, just didn't want to see it fly away in the wind, then the next then the next, then the next don't even start there. nobody could script this absolute continuous destruction of possible avenues of flying something, anything. it's the purest solute in all of creation, the purpose and function of all life is to offer and subsequently oppose quadcopter use.

155mm frame at ~9.5 grams, a few things eg. the cutouts on the spars could have a few grams shaved off but they were easy to cut that way. it looks like the frame is resting on the scale in this shot but the scale is about right and it stopped swinging round
frame constructed with vintage tech; hobby files, hacksaw blade, drill. motors mounted with dental floss secured with wood glue
total cost: one paint stirrer, two paperclips, 8 ft. of floss, and some plastic stripped off speaker wire i found in the bottom of my bits box the canopy hinges on the back and i'm not sure how i'll mount cam et al. yet so the "fangs" are adjustible for time being. might saw the prop guard spars off, dunno, will be using piano wire and/or zip ties for antenna guards. as is, you understand, this frame is wonderfully extensible.waiting on: IR cam, eachine vtx02, 65mm kk props.
the message here is you quadcopterforum.com guys need to up your game and stop handing me bum information. i've got the skills to build and code, but eg. i get to spend an hour wandering in the sweltering arizona desert in july because some nitwit only gave me half the story on mode 1 radios, weeks for this and that because someone omits some crucial information on how to identify or match a component.
i piss away week after week waiting for parts because you folks can't get your end of the deal together and explain things to newcomers, eg. about how to configure an arm button on a new radio, so i can't do this the first time and get to grind off my vTx antenna and props because you're all numptys. yes you.
you all go off and buy your prefab carbon frames for sheep. you'll be sorry when that little cup of clorox is raining down on you. and your scale runs out of batteries

i just halved the group delay on them there filters used in all your flight controllers. it's really true: all your base does belong to us. it's just that, i guess your vibrator isn't high enough to know about where them bases is or even what styles do you offer.
i just halved your response lag on your flight controllers. you don't know about that.

In a typical DC motor, there are permanent magnets on the skin and a spinning coil on the within. The permanent magnets are stationary so that they are referred to as the mechanical device. The coil rotates, therefore it's referred to as the rotor.
