Binding issues...

I saw a couple awesome fpv videos on YouTube and thought it would be fun to try. So I bought an Iflight Nazgul 6s with the r-xsr receiver, and I’m trying to use a Frsky taranis x9d plus transmitter. But I can’t get them to pair, and I’ll be honest I barely know what I’m doing. Any advice would be appreciated.

The stand alone r-rxs receiver works with a transmitter in D16 mode
 
They dont tell you much on banggood only 2 different receivers i think the one you have runs D16 protocol sorry cant help much have never had your transmitter

In general you want to hold the bind button on the receiver or put a bind plug in it depending on what kind of receiver it is and then power it up (while holding button or with bind plug in). Once the receiver is powered and waiting for binding you go to your transmitter/controller and navigate the menus to find the bind option (or hold a button/switch while turning on to get into binding mode depending on the transmitter). Typically on the transmitter if using OpenTX it will have different protocol options in the first setup page for the model near the bottom of the "page" (have to scroll down to find it or scroll up to loop back to the bottom of the page). Once you have D16 or whatever the right protocol is selected you'd go to the Bind "button" and hit enter to get the transmitter searching for the receiver. It should only take a couple of seconds usually you'll see the light pattern on the receiver change but not always. After that just try to exit out of binding mode on the TX (can stay on the page) and restart the quad, hook the quad up to a computer and download betaflight configuration tool:

(scroll down get a "release" for your operating system). If first time ever setting this up and using windows you may have to install the STM32 drivers and/or Silicon Labs drivers (can do both won't hurt anything to have them on the system, they just allow windows/betaflight configurator to "see" the flight controller on your quad as a serial device). If using Mac or Linux you should have built in drivers that work for accessing the FC so nothing extra to install.

Once in Betaflight configurator and have your quad plugged into computer with a micro-USB cable you should be able to hit the connect button in top right and get a connection to quad then on the left side will see Receiver tab, click that to see the values coming from your receiver (and if bound your transmitter), if your binding worked you'll be able to move sticks and see values in the Receiver tab change. If that's working as expected next step is setting up your modes/switches (deciding which one arms etc.)

If first time working with betaflight recommend watching a vid or two first on it then watching specific ones for whatever you're trying to accomplish, JB (Joshua Bardwell) on YouTube has an encylopedia of videos on how to do various things in betaflight:

 
I’m having same problem I’ve done tons of research and for the life of me my controller won’t bind the drone indicates that it is but it’s not showing up on display or in beta flight I’ve tried every way google and youtube can offer
 
If the binding procedure seems to work (as in now the receiver shows some different light pattern or color if the TX is on vs off) then you probably just have the wrong protocol selected in the Configuration tab in betaflight for the RX (should be on the left side about midway down options for frsky or spektrum or a few others).
 
I kept it on spectrum I tried switching to sbus and I bus on betaflight The input on my controller is ppm and sbus just trying to simplify it just to see if I can get the quad in the air I know for sure my receiver is on sbus that was simple you just hold it down a couple seconds it flashes turns off and goes back to slow blink when I turn controller on without trying to bind the receiver stays solid I watched a lot about the controller set up and am pretty sure I got everything where it needs to be I can post pics off everything if that would help and thank you

And would it come from the factory like that? This was supposed to be rtf package I’m still waiting on the googles to come in but I just want to get it in the air n see how it performs
 
Yah generally if "RTF" or "BNF" (Bind 'n fly) then comes with receiver and FC is configured for whatever output the receiver is giving but no guarantees something didn't get flashed again or config got wiped somehow or just wasn't set by MFG best you can do is check it all yourself (especially without an oscilloscope to probe what's going on with the signals).

I’ve been messing with this thing for a couple days read and watched endless articles and I finally made a breakthrough still have everything on sbus for now only because my controller finally came up on betaflight after adjusting trim and setting my switches I got it all to work only thing is my vtx doesn’t have the digital display like I’ve seen on other models it just has a yellow and blue light that you can change and I guess I’ll figure that out when my googles come in but my vtx get hot kinda quick and I’m not sure if that is normal?
 
Also what can I do to add more range I don’t wanna get a better rc yet but I remember reading about some small things I can do to get some more range. Idk if I should try to find a better receiver or antenna or vtx. I’m waiting on my eachine ev100 googles to get in I no there not the best but it was a inexpensive option to get started

Yah hot is normal but make sure you have vtx antenna well secured without antenna on there and just sitting on bench with power going into it can cook itself (no antennae on there to help dissipate the energy as radio waves and just physically eat up some of the heat). When in flight it gets some natural cooling too from air blowing over it. Regarding LCD display vs just leds on there I do shop for the former cause hate guessing or doing the search for band on goggles and hoping it actually picks the right one. Regarding range patch antenna can help but just getting to know the terrain and avoiding flying from under trees or generally in with vegetation or say a hill between you and the quad.
