Bearings, please help a noob!

So I recently had to install a new frame on my LaTrax Alias. Everything went flawlessly expect the fact that one of the main shaft bearings literally disintegrated upon removal, weather I did it wrong, or it was already broken is irrelevant.

Getting new bearings is not my problem here, my question is how should I oil/lube them? or should I not do it at all? (I doubt that)
I have plenty of WD-40 but I also have a decent surplus of gun oil. Would one work better than the other? Or should I get something different? If so, could you post a link, or even just post the name of the product?

Also the bearings I have are a bit gritty, is it ok for me to use something like PB-blaster or ShopSolve to clean them out? or could this have negative effects I'm not accounting for?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi mate if they are not a sealed bearing then the light gun oil will be good , a very small amount , once a month or so

WD-40 is a very poor choice for general lubrication. Decent for sticky, rusty nuts and cleaning rust off tools.

There are many bearing oils being marketed to the RC crowd.

Trinity seems to have it covered.

I agree, the WD-40 is too thin. You should use something a little thicker, if you wanted to use something you may hvave around your house an old tin of 3-in-1 oil would work.

Also most sewing machine oils would work fine.

Gun oil might work depending on what weight it is, if it is the really light one it is not ideal. But if it is the tiny bit thicker type it should work.

I have pretty much every kind of oil at my disposal. My Father owns a machine shop so he has every weight oil you can imagine. Our family also has a lot of firearms. So we have an abundance of gun oil of all kinds.

Tell me the best weight oil for the job and I'll have my dad get me some if we don't already have it.

Around 20 weight, maybe a little thinner if that does not seep in well. Try to use synthetic oils is possible, because your motors are not rusty you should be able to use a 10-20 weight synthetic motor oil.
