Hey folks,

I'm Mike from Texas. I'm 51, and have been into photography for a while and have always thought about getting into drones but never wanted to stick the crowbar into wallet - only to crash on my first flight. Anyway, I read someones blog that suggested get an inexpensive one to learn how to fly and then buy the more expensive one(s). Okay, sounds good. I found the HS 181C on amazon for 50% off - so I just couldn't pass it up.

So far, I'm in love with it and have been reading here and watching videos on the technology, how to fly, how to build etc, while my batteries charge for my next flight - lol. I used to be into airsoft with my son, so I gathered up all that gear last night to get it ready to sell for drone funding.

Since I've been doing all this video watching and reading, I'm become less interested in a video platform and more interested in building one from a kit/scratch, experimenting with autonomous flight, maybe some FPV racing stuff. It's not that I'm not interested in the video, it's just moved down the priority list for now. I'll definitely pick something up for our next trip to Big Bend NP.

Anyway, thanks for reading and thanks for all the helpful members that have already helped me through the videos and posts.

Will be interested in seeing some video, FPV racing is pretty attractive. If you are interested in making some race gates later down the road you can save a lot of money by improvising on the race gates. A cheap way to make some race gates when you decide to is to just use some PEX plumbing pipe and wooden dowels. You cut the pipe to make the gate the size you want and then cut the dowels to make little stakes. Just bow the pipe and sit it over the dowels. After that you can grab some FPV race course markers (you could pickup 50 for ~20$).

Anytime you can save money on one place in the hobby it means you can get even better parts for the next build/bad crash

I used to live in Texas also. I loved Big Bend. Outstanding topography. If you get there make sure you send pictures and video back to us.

Hi Mike all videos are welcome , it some times helps to put a video up as some of the guys that do a lot of FPV will give you tips on how to do things better
