I don't agree with that, especially if you factor in your time/labor/tools. The amount of posts we see across various forums concerning the trials and tribulations of actually getting a 'build' flying are staggering. How many times have we seen cry for help posts, that simply fade away? We see how folks say it's so easy to build, yet I venture to say many have never even gotten their 'build' off the ground. The unfinished, never working 'builds' that are now just sitting around gathering dust could probably fill dozens of dumpsters.

Agree. I've been frequenting these forums for a while and see how much trouble people have. I've also watched a lot of build videos and read countless articles. As an old tech with all the tools, materials, and know-how, I'm sure I could do a "scratch" build. But I don't want to. Something like the Hawk 5 looks very appealing and at least I know that when I get it, it's (presumably) fully functioning and I can take it from there. When something goes wrong I can fix it, but at least the starting point is a working quad. I don't know how much cheaper you can buy the parts anyway, and as you mentioned the time to build it is time that I'd rather spend out at the park flying. A scratch build might be a good winter project.

I had all the components for a build in my cart ready to buy when I decided to just buy a wizard220 instead. Yes building a quad looks like fun but flying them is what I'm really into.

Build it or buy it as long as you fly it.
