Allow this newbie to kick off with the first post

I bought my first 3D printer on July this year. It is a Monoprice Select Mini V2.
I know absolutely nothing about 3D printing. Zero.
For now I just download some stl files from the web , then use slicer Cura 3.4.1 to create gcode files for printing.
It has been a lot of fun.
The followings are a few of my finished prints ……………………..

More mpcnc and 3d printer stuff, this quads, and esk8 hobbies all been developing over the last few years all very similar tech (simple mcus, motor controller or drivers, and open source software). I started with cura as well it did well at the time but think slic3r or prusaslicer has gotten better in terms of ease of use and setup and does a great job slicing (in particular making easy to remove supports but is just overall smart)

Yeah agree really nice looking prints off the monoprice I'm pretty impressed by all the newish printers out there, the more expensive ones are just bells and whistles and some support, but the painted prints are awesome looking. I go about 50/50 mechanical things and just little models I give away to people but really should get into painting/finishing them (I have some XTC-3D https://www.smooth-on.com/product-line/xtc-3d/ and it works really well but just don't have that much in the way of paints)

Yeah agree really nice looking prints off the monoprice I'm pretty impressed by all the newish printers out there, the more expensive ones are just bells and whistles and some support, but the painted prints are awesome looking. I go about 50/50 mechanical things and just little models I give away to people but really should get into painting/finishing them (I have some XTC-3D https://www.smooth-on.com/product-line/xtc-3d/ and it works really well but just don't have that much in the way of paints)

The MP Select Mini is a great little workhorse.
However, for the benefits of anyone who is thinking of buying that model, I have 3 pet peeves...…..
1. The led screen is NOT touch screen. One has to navigate the menu by turning the knob on the right side of the screen. Such activity could be a prelude to unhinged cursing in disgust! Buy the pro version which has the touch screen.
2. Bed Leveling is a huge pain in the ass. Ge the Pro version which has auto bed leveling.
3. The bed dimension is 120mm x 120mm x 120mm. Too small.

I paid only C$138 via eBay auction. C$180 in total, shipping + taxes. So, I can't complain. But to those who will be paying the regular price of C$280+, don't say I did not warn you.

It is a great little workhorse, with some irritating down sides.

I agree agree that the knob is a a pain in the butt but I'm used to it so no big deal. As for the Pro version, I guess you aren't on the Monoprice Facebook page. The auto levelling feature is a total nightmare for every single person who's ever bought one and all end up disabling it.. As for normal levelling, I can only say that it takes me 5 minutes max and it holds it's level. It's probably been 100 parts since I've last had to level it.

I have this one on file, unable to decide if I should buy it. That was less than a month ago.
Monoprice Maker Select Plus

At that time, the price was C$460+. Now it's C$540.
I pass.

Yeah, I'd buy the Ender 3 at not much more $ than the MPSM, long before I'd buy that!
