1st 500 quad build.. Need HELP!

First off, Hello all and thanks for having me! This is my first post on any forum ever, so hopefully all goes well!

Ok!..

I have this frame it's called HJ MWC X-Alien frame..

I've been reading and reading and reading and did I mention.. Reading.. There is so much information that once I start grasping what it takes to build a quad I all of a sudden get blindsided by a whole nother realm of parts and electronics..

I ordered the KK2.15 & Generic 30a Simonk ESC's. I haven't ordered motors yet because I planned on waiting til the quad is complete and see how much it will weigh and go off of that for motors/props. I want to use this as a fpv fun flyer and aerial photography and video drone.

I am about to order this set of equipment for my FPV setup and I'd like if you guys could take a look before I "click buy"...

Now! I keep hearing about UBEC's and Power distribution boards and voltage meters and it's all just throwing me for a loop.. Definently getting a little overwhelmed.. In my mind I need,

1 x Frame
4 x esc
4 x motor
4 x props - ccw and cw pair
1 x FC
1 x Fpv camera w/ video transmitter and receiver
1 x Controller module transmitter and receiver
1 x Lipo battery

Now that's in my mind what I need.. I don't know if I need wiring, power boards, UBEC, more electronics?... Please help lol! I appreciate all the help I can get!

FPV setup is good, just remember that the antenna will do a lot more than increasing the transmitter power. You also need some way to view the feed, if you have an old flatscreen computer monitor I could walk you through converting it to an FPV screen. Take a look at this post, may help you with your FPV system.

You should get your ESCs and your motors at the same times, as you may need 40 amp ESCs or even need a different frequency. Your parts all should list their weight (probably in grams) so you can come with a pretty good estimate and get at LEAST a 2:1 thrust to weight ratio.

As long as you don't get OPTO ESCs your part list looks fine.

Awesome thanks so much for the reply! Yes I did plan on a monitor! Forgot to list that... May I ask what you mean by "just remember that the antenna will do a lot more than increasing the transmitter power"? And also esc's run on frequencies with the motors?! Lol man oh man! o_O

Yeah, the ESCs convert DC to 3-Phase AC, and some motors require a different phasing, but you will probably be good. A better antenna will do a lot more than than tripling your wattage output, I mentioned this as you listed a 600mw vTx. You selected pretty good antennas so you should be fine for whatever you are going to be doing with a quad.

Oh ok! So even if I wanted to go with the cheaper 200mw vtx & and use those antennas I'd still be doing pretty good?

Yeah, you might want to get a 32ch vTx so that you can use any receiver, many goggles or screens come with an 8ch receiver.

You do need a PDB if you don't want to solder all of your ESCs together and if your frame does not come with them. Check, your frame probably has a built in PDB.

Also if your frame comes with a PDB be sure to get an XT60 connector to solder to plug your battery in.

Ok. Certain gauge? And type? I'm sorry man I gotta thank you more than you know.. I know ur prolly shaking ur head every time I ask a question lol but it's greatly appreciated.. U r the man!

Hahaha, sory should have explained it better. You may need some wire to extent the ones on your ESCs, the wire is so short that you don't have to use normal AWG:amp ratios so a if you don't have any stranded #8 or #10 you could just extend the ESCs with some #12 extension cord wire, it is better to extend the wires on the motor's side of the ESC if possible. Do you have a soldering iron/station, some flux and some solder?.

How big is your frame and what are you planning on lifting? A 4S, ~900kv - 12''x 3.3 prop combo is generally good for this class of quadcopter.

This is from the order of the frame.. Another part also said 2212,2213,5005 etc.. for motors. It says biggest prop that can be used is 12" but they recommend 10.11? I will have all the normal stuff onboard plus a FPV setup and a mobious can.

Not sure what they mean by 10.11 probably 10-11. You can use 10''x4.7 or 11''x4.5 just the same as 12''x3.3.

Ok but with my 30a simonk esc's I just wanna make sure I get the right motor and are able to lift everything efficiently. My price range for the motors would be around $50. Have any suggestions? And maybe where to order from?
