12 guage copper speaker wire as a power harness?

No aluminum wires used, although I have no idea what 'erc' is.
Copper is easy, much easier than aluminum. How many amps you planning to be pulling on this?

3S, what size, what motors and battery.
12 gauge should be fine, but bigger would certainly not hurt on your trunk line. If you have nothing else just pair two wires in parallel. .

You ESCs come with aluminum wire? Post a LINK.
It is not all that uncommon, most of your batteries have Al leads. Aluminium is 200% more efficient looking at load vs weight. I'm doing something right now but I'll post a link or some links.

Aluminum is a crappy conductor compared to copper but if weight is a concern and the aluminum wire is supplying the needed amount of current then so be it.
Silver is the number one conductor followed by copper..i think aluminum falls in around 10th place for conductivity of metals.

As long as you're not including alloys, then the list gets much larger.

I love how easily we all get derailed. 12 gauge will be good. Most of my wire harness is 16 gauge silicone wire, which is aluminum. My afro esc's and multistar motors are also aluminum, I'm not sure if there is even any copper in my quad. (besides for motor windings anyway)
