    Toy quad conversion

So I have two of these: http://www.amazon.com/Holy-Stone-Predator-Helicopter-Quadcopter/dp/B0157IHJMQ And they are great, definitely not as docile for indoor flight as say, a blade inductrix, but I do fly them inside and outside. Very fast and aggressive in high rate mode, so on and so forth...

VTX caught on fire yesterday, anyone know why?

I was well within operating voltage, and I had used it multiple times before, although just to tset it and show people my goggles. About 5 minutes into my first fpv flight (which was amazing btw), I brought my quad down and was looking at something when I noticed it started to smoke. There was...

Can you flip the image on fatsharks?

The way my camera has to go to fit the mounting holes on my camera mount leaves the image on its side in my goggles, does anyone know of a way to flip it or am I gonna have to fab something up to get my camera to fit correctly?

Is this my first day? Thread

I decided to make this thread because I was on a roll getting my on-board fpv stuff set up, and had just finished making a beautiful in line splice when the unthinkable happened: It was when I tried to pull the heatshrink up that I suddenly realized that I hadn't put any on there before I made...

Can I trim off the outer edge of my board camera?

One of my friends seems to think that the outer part Is there as a form of rf protection, but to me it looks like it's meant to give more options for mounting, thoughts?

Is there a name for these things?

I'm assuming it's just called a jst pin, but what I'm not sure on is how they are measured and/or categorized, and if I can buy them in small quantities

Gee bee foamy is finally taking shape

So after much procrastination, I've started building my foamy. The fact that it's snowing in April for some reason may have had an impact on my decision. It's definitely interesting, using hot glue is like a mix between mig welding and soldering, it's a pretty cool experience altogether...

    Home brew fpv setup question

So here's the gear im using: Vtx: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MLS0NOW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1459143941&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=boscam+ts832&dpPl=1&dpID=419jtreqJnL&ref=plSrch Camera...

    Built in power filter?

So i was watching an rcmodelreviews video on YouTube, and he said that if your vtx has a power out, then it has a built in power filter. not knowing this, I already have a power filter on the way. Is this true? Will having another filter hurt? Is the one inside of these transmitters good...

More foamy questions, can we have a fixed wing board yet?

I don't like to start a build before I have everything down, and theres a few things concerning radio channels that I'm not sure about. I understand that I'll need some channel mixing, but what I don't get is how you use two servos for the rudder. Wouldn't they both have to go on their own...

    Simple osd

Anybody have any leads on a simple, cheap voltage osd from somewhere that ships from the u.s.? Of course hobby king doesn't have any in USA warehouses, and I don't really want to wait for a 14 dollar part to get here from china. Anazon has a few, but none I really like.

Prop size vs. Motor size vs. Amp draw

So the way I'm figuring it, a lower kv motor spinning a larger prop will pull fewer amps than a higher kv motor spinning the same prop, right? For example: a 1000 kv motor spinning a 10 inch prop would pull fewer amps than an 1800 kv motor spinning that same prop? I'm still trying to figure out...

Look at this beautiful piece of equipment

Fatshark would have you believe that you need to buy one of their ridiculously overpriced immersion rc transmitters to work with their goggles, well this little bad boy is 600mw and shares 3 of the 4 bands that the goggles use, and it was only 20 bucks

So I know this is a forum about quadcopters but...

Here's just one more reason we need an off topic board. I got this foamy from my dad, I was telling him that I needed a new project, and he pulled this red eagle Gee bee out that he has apparently had for a few years. He also has a huge box full of escs, random motors, props, servos and a...

Today I learned I know nothing about cameras

I'm trying to decide on a board camera for my fpv setup. All I know for sure is that I want it to capture video in 4:3. What is tvl? When I see things like 2.88mm, is that like the diameter of the lens? Can someone give me a starting point? I'd appreciate it.

Have you ever tried learning calculus for fun?

Who would have known that trying to understand how pids work would take so much effort? Is this all really necessary?

Moved my cc3d, now gyro seems to be out of whack

So I just completely rewired and repositioned everything on my 250. My nylon stand offs finally came, so I mounted my cc3d up on them. Now when I get up in the air it seems really tippy, and kinda just does whatever it wants. Long story short; I'm so burned out right now from bright lights...

So did anyone meet the deadline?

I got a registration number last night, it was relatively painless. I figure it's better too be safe than sorry. Is anyone else planning or not planning on registering? Why?

Wow is there a lot of fpv stuff to choose from

So today I went to my local hobby store (big mistake). While I could never justify dropping 200-400 dollars in one go on a pair of goggles, I can justify putting a pair of dominator v3's on lay-a-way and slowly paying them off till its nice enough to fly outside ;p. Now trying to research...
