successfully applied the e011 to removing an unwanted visitor this morning, so quick from licence to service. just the tips of the mesquite were gently bobbing so i'd say 2 mph winds, it took a bit of work to head against it at higher altitudes, but managed to send it out and bring it back...

yah i said i'd zip it but here i is, for completeness giving myself my pilot's licence today. here's how it went - early morning charges outside with wind as reported. when returing inside again (heat) i had of course chewed up my new props some more so replaced them all. next i observed my...

ran a few batteries outside in very gentle winds. having a place to fly without obstacles (ceilings, walls) is immensely better for training as you're not constantly having to adjust for your adjustments to avoid them. but e011 cannot handle wind.. i'd say 3-5 mph is enough to cancel out thrust...

wile ecoyote v2.0 that's like an electric coyote. the wilin part you either get or don't second e011 arrived today, my skills didn't improve in the interim. gonna cork it as i want to be a *lot* better at this than i am, holding altitude while adjusting heading or velocity on the e011 is a...

mozquito dude and other dudes dude you guys are dripping with practical experience if you guys could take a moment to cook that down into a concise, inclusive read about batteries it would be way cool for all of us new suckers - there is a lot of information to learn about LIPOs i guess, but...

    3D Printed designs?

after watching my first quad sail away on some invisible high altitude current, i'm now waiting and waiting for the next one to get here. i thought i'd fill the time by modeling my frame ideas. i'm old skool - my first choice for 3d is pov-ray (it may still be in history books somewhere) so...

so i haven't posted. some days ago i went outside on a hot evening as my piloting was getting better and watched as the throttle lifted it up to about twenty feet, where i found that it didn't matter what i did, it was gonig to continue to go east. very hot record temps here lately i guess...

nah not relly :) i've held passports for (counts) four! english speaking nations and spent most of my life in tucson. whereever i go people think i'm from someplace else. nixed thoughts on piano wire, at least just piano wire, as it's a pita to join. looked into 3d printing (must have been...

hehe weell it might have been many things, possibly in combination. iirc at the time it was moving towards a wall about 18" straight behind it. hard to say from here. (actually a fireplace mantle, chimney = air movement) it's true that i have been attempting to suss "forwards also equals lift"...

pretty sure my unit is too chewed up. one of the early outside flights processed a bunch of large grain sand, one of my two remaining cw props kind of looks like a dog toy. so it doesn't matter how i get things trimmed, i keep having unpredictable responses to piloting, eg. i'm now trying to get...

:D i mean the thing is i think and then i talk because i figure, someone must be ahead of me on this. eg. apart from microquads i'd like to do a LR fpv for the mountains. so i'm watching these rc gliders with giant solar wingspans that come up on youtube. yes no yes no... well i wonder why...

ima gunna hafta spend loadz more on more quadcopters. gradually getting better but think i screwed it with drops. i don't know if the house is full of thermals (tucson, set to be like 120 on monday) because i keep drifting, one way, then the other. kinda okay if i let myself go completely...

well you know perhaps some of this will be useful for other first timers. i spent say 20+ hours reading before the thing got here, so here are things i didn't read. i'm on say charge 10 now. extra batteries shipped from another location so 45 minutes between flights. the first thing to do is...

something clicked on 5 and my altitude control improved significantly. flight 6 didn't improve on that much and spent most of 5 and 6 adjusting the frame after those high drops on outside flights, causing slow clockwise rotation. beneficial as experience. looks like i'm getting the hang of it...
