Anti Drone Laser Weapon for Army

o_O ... What's so "new and high tech" about all this ? ... Hell, I had a laser I could weld with back in the seventies ! Also made many an RF jammer too ... Turn it up high enough and it went from "jammer" to "fryer" ... lol ... could smoke the electronics in anything you pointed it at (and not...

Okay, It's Not A Quad, But What A Deal!

 ... Did he say 45 minutes flight time ?! THAT part I like, the $400 price tag for a "Foamy" not so much. Back when I flew RC planes I used to make foamies and wing cores with my own "hot wire" set up.

    Spork's Journey

Any range extenders I've ever setup are extending the range of the device which is being used to set them up. Which is to say it's going to repeat the link that's established by whatever that device is using, not setting up an unrelated link.

Range Extension via WiFi repeaters ?

 ... I've been kicking around the idea of modifying those "WiFi Extenders" readily available in stores. It occurred to me that if they can pick up and resend both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz signals for cellphone/computer use then they can also do it for our WiFi linked quads as well as our...

When the Gods Frown On You

You should most certainly expect to get much better reception with two circularly polarized antennas compared to just one transmitting to a "stick". :)

    Which tiny whoop?

Freerider IS a good skill builder. After you can cruise through those humongous gates on there with ease you should try "Liftoff". It's even more like really flying after you get it tuned up right and you can also see the effects that different parts have on your "test bed" quad of choice. The...

    Spork's Journey

That sounds like it could be ground effect. That happens when you're hovering too close to the ground (especially a smooth floor and less so in grass) because the props are basically pulling in their own turbulence and losing lift. When practicing hovering stay several feet off the ground. You...

    Which tiny whoop?

 ... The "iRangeX IRX4 Plus" multiprotocol module is the latest iteration and does not use the whimpy internal PCB antenna any longer. Not only does it support an external antenna but it now also allows protocol selection via the host radio's internal menu system and without any...

    Battery Connector Types?

I believe it's a "JST" connector and more than likely an RCY (check the distance between the pin's tips is 2.5 mm). :) The suffixes go like this: GH=1.25 mm, PA=2.0 mm, RCY (or SM) =2.5 mm, VH=3.96 mm ;)

    Contrasting Forward Props

On a bird that big you might consider going half-wave (24.6 - 26 mm) instead of quarter-wave ;) If you want to get fancy make that a dipole too: Instead of just cutting off the braided shield strip only the insulative outer covering, then fold back the braid onto the unstripped coax. Finish the...

    UAV Futures inspired $99 build

Multimeter ? Did somebody say multimeter ? ... I've got about fourteen at last count ... lol ... :p In a pinch, you can make a continuity checker out of any cheap flashlight too :) Just soldering some wires to the switch and using them will check continuity just fine. If the light comes on...

    UAV Futures inspired $99 build

I can easily hit the $500 mark if I'm just going by what I want and disregarding costs and that's not even counting the batteries.

    Spork's Journey

I've been tossing hints to the Mrs. about the need for some good FPV goggles and mentioned they're only around 3 or 4 hundred a pop, with the really nice ones for 5 hundred or so and she just kinda looks at me like I've must have gone insane ... lol ... I'm hoping repeating the process will...
