Unable to bind FrSky XR8R with Futaba T8J, just a green-red steady light

Hi all, I have began calibrating my first build and installed the firmware from mission planner today, I hadn't tried binding my transmitter to the receiver until then.
I have tried following both binding/linking procedures: placing powered on transmitter 20 inches away from receiver and then powering up the receiver while holding the failsafe button. I have also tried waiting for the system to power up before turning on the transmitter but nothing seems to work.

Apparently steady red-green lights can mean the firmware is for the wrong region or that no suitable transmitter is in range but this is not covered in the manual.

When I power it up normally it just blinks red which means there is no signal and otherwise seems to work fine.

I am new to this so any advice would be great :) thank you

I don't believe futaba tx will work with frsky receiver in most cases unless you have a different tx module in the transmitter module bay that can communicate with the futaba fhss or faast protocols, frsky uses ACCST or ACCESS protocols over the air, spektrum uses DSM/2/X over the air depending on the receiver.

Something like this ought to work but would check with futaba support or cross check the manuals for compatible protocols:

Great, thank you! I got the parts from my university course after they had recommended a Futaba FHSS transmitter so assumed it would work haha
I will order a S-FHSS receiver, thanks for your help!
