tyro99 will not bind

My son and I built a tyro99. We are using a Frysky taranis x-lite with a frysky receiver. We are totally stuck because we cannot get the copter to bind. We found the bind pin and have followed videos for the xmitter, but no go. Our FC is soldered to the sbus. We are really frustrated. This is our first build. After frying our FC we learned how to solder and now all power works, but we are totally stuck with the bind process. Do we need to update firmware somehow or change settings on the Taranis? Do we need to bridge the sbus/ibus? If we do that will our FC get fried again? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!
 
Hi I am not sure with the taranis but most programmable transmitters you need to put in a profile for the model first (aeroplane will do ) then put quad into bind mode now hold bind button on transmitter while this is held down turn on transmitter it should then bind
 
FRSky can be a little finicky as you need to have all the firmware up-to-date and compatible. For your X-Lite, it should be firmware 2.2.3, and the latest firmware available on the FRSky site for the receiver. You also have to make sure you are using the FCC version for both, not EU (I'm assuming you're in North America. It also wouldn't hurt if you could post a photo of how you have your receiver connected to your FC
