Hi Guys,

Firstly im new to the quad world so hi :)

Im looking to build my first quad and really like the design and look to the Turnigy Talon V2.0 does anyone have any opinions on these kits?
My shopping kart looks like this below so far please feel free to rip me up on some of is specially if some of the parts are going to cause me problems in the future.

1 x Turnigy Talon V2.0
2 x Turnigy Talon extended arms (300mm)
5 x NTM Prop Drive 28-26 1000KV
2 x Slow fly props (packets)rev and std
5 x Maytech ESC MT35A-OPTO-MK
1 x Open pilot CC3D
1 x Zippy Flightmas 2200mah 4s1p 40C
plus some misc spare parts etc cabling connectors

Im also looking for a tx what would be a good one to start with that has a bit of future proofing? was looking at the Turnigy 9X or is there something more suited?

Look forward to hearing from you guys

IMG_1020 - Copy.JPG Hi mate welcome to the forum, I have the talon v2 with the extended arms see pic , its a handful with the longer arms on , if you plan on fast flying , flips etc I would keep it standard for a while the bigger set up is more for stable camera work , On 1000kv motors what size props i would go 10x4.5 , You dont really need 4 cell ,3 cell will do but go for 3300mah or 4000mah Plastic or nylon props are ok to start on ,but you need to go carbon fibre as the quad will wallow less
Your need a BEC as the opto does not have one , also male servo to servo leads , heat shrink
The 9X is ment to be good if you can afford the pro get it , transmitter are personal taste , if you put links at what your looking at it makes it easy as we dont need to look it up and get wrong ones
There you go no telling off :p

thanks for your quick reply, ill post the links below then a breif ramble lol hope the links work as im doing this off a tablet which is new to me :) sorry if they dont work will have to be a cut and paste job.

ESC (Was also looking at the Turnigy plush 20a)

Props (LHR & RHR)

And other misc parts which are fairly standard.

Basically i guess im looking for reasurance that i am looking at good components that are going to take a bit of abuse and not going to breakdown on me.

tx i had been looking at both below
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._Module_8ch_Receiver_Mode_2_v2_Firmware_.html
or
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__31544__Turnigy_9XR_Transmitter_Mode_2_No_Module_.html
if i was to get the pro model what extra would i need over and above the rx of course, and what rx would you recommend? Im assuming the pro model does basic telementry?

If you guys can recommend better components than what i have outlined above please feel free to let me know
What does the BEC do?

Hi mate yes links work fine , Ok a BEC stands for battery eliminator circuit a normal esc will have a lead which will give you up to 7amps depends on the esc, octo does not have this so you need to power FCB ,receiver etc, if your going to run 3cell battery you want the bigger props 9 inch or i would fly on 10x4.5 .
The XR is a much better transmitter as the software will never go out of date you just download new ones , it does not say it does Telementry
If you want this then how about the spektrum DX9 all the telementry is spoken so no need to look at transmitter , but on all of them you will need telementry unit fitted to quad , if you go FPV you can get OSD ( on screen display ) which will give you all the info you want in the FPV feed back to the monitor or goggles
