Total Newbie - advice needed

Hi Folks. I am totally new to the whole quadcopter world having seen one in action on my recent winter vacation. There are only two stores in our city that sell them and I am looking at the Dromida Ominus FPV and the Helimax 230si. The both sell for about $240 (CDN $). I am really leaning toward the Dromida because of the FPV. There is also a used Syma X5C (with 4 additional 700 mh batteries) for $150 and Hubscan FPV (new in the box) for $200 on Kijiji - a local buy and sell website.

I have watched a ton of video, spent hours reading reviews, and quite frankly am overwhelmed and no closer to a decision.

Any suggestions you more experienced folks have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Brent from Manitoba

Hi Brent and welcome, Its harder to get a really good all round toy quads and these are all toys , Hubsan have always been good , as most a bad one will always slip through QC , If its from a shop then if it not right you can take it back, it as good start till you want to step up to a hobby grade quad
Just make sure its mode 2 on the transmitter
As what to get I would go this way 1- Hubsan, 2-Helimax, 3-syma x5c , 4- Dromida
So if number 1 is sold then jump to number 2 and so on

Thanks Hotneil. That helps a lot. The Hubscan I saw online certainly wouldn't be from a shop so I may be a bit hesitant. Since I posted this last night, I realized that the Hubscan is smaller than the others and better suited to indoor flying and I really want one that I can fly outdoors.

Hi dont let the size of the Hubsan fool you even the x4 flies outside , If your not got your heart set on FPC , just get a good grade quad learn to fly it, then jump to a hobby grade quad fit FPV and do some real flying , They are all toy quads so are limited to what you can do and where they are able to fly , This is my mate in the USA watch this and your see what a hobby grade quad can do

One word - WOW! I am guessing this wasn't his first time flying a quad. As a total neophyte, I think I am a quite a way from this calibre flying. I am heading out on Friday night to a local RC club that flies at the Golf Dome (indoor driving range) to see if I can learn more. I hope to make my decision in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Thanks again. The guy with the Helimax is down to half of the new (store) price. I am pretty tempted for a first quadcopter.
