I was asked if I could share some pics and tips......well...Here it is....Don't bet on the seven dog....that's your tip....LOL.....seriously...sorry but couldn't resist....after changing the resolution on my camera...now I can show what I have, and share hints with all of you....I will start with the Camera mounting system I put on the Syma X8...Rather than walk you through the build and bore you to death....I will post pics which should explain themselves.....on the dovetail mount for the X8..I used ONLY the white bottom of the original mounting base, and chucked the rest....I then just mounted it to the base of a Andoer gimble...Amazon.com...like 17 bucks...swapped the hard original rubber dampers with white silicone balls from DJI...and this is what I ended up with....
none of this is rocket science..just common sense...keep in mind, overall weight, and where is your CG.....I am using a re-purposed camera from an Ares Athos HD... 8mp I think...1080p 60 fps
and using an external battery which acts as a counterweight...The X8 fly's this system like it is not even there, the weight is 4 ounces total with mount camera and external battery....
adjust CG accordingly and you will get much better video quality.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask....I will be glad to help out...PS..The LED headlight is ..again re-purposed .........from a flashlight.....and added with imagination......it runs off the second lead of the camera battery....friggen sneaky I must say.....lol
