Syma X5C-1 engine repair, won't lift off the ground very far

I bought a pack of four (4) replacement motors with brass gears. 99% sure I replaced the bad clockwise one (red-blue wires) with the corresponding clockwise motor (also blue-red).

Even on a fully-charged battery, the X5C-1 won't get more than a few inches off the ground. Any idea what I could have done wrong?

My soldering skills are novice at best. I figured if I melted something on the motherboard it wouldn't work at all.

The blades are on properly as shown on the front of the box.

Does the brass fitting only on one motor throw things off?

Hi mate Have you got photos of the motor , I normally replace all 4 at a time if its had more then 20 flights

Here are some pics.

Hi mate it may just be the camera angle but the metal gear look like the teeth are a different cut, not by much and are going in deeper to the gear so that motor may spin slower
That about all i can see , may be George will look and add to it

I sent George a message so he will look at this too

Just as Neil said, on the first picture the brass gear is the wrong gear to be working with that nylon one. You can get a new brass gear, or if you can't find any of the right ones get a new nylon gear, but make sure you have the same gear ratio.

These are the replacement motors I bought.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V09G6VW

The seller clearly states that they are for the Syma X5C-1.

1) Does this give me grounds to return them?

2) Can someone point me to a good but inexpensive set of replacement motors?

3) Lastly, would I be better off keeping these motors and getting brass gears to match? If so, where would I get those?

Hi I just looked at reviews some one else has problem with gear being to big got a full refund ,another one replaced the metal gear with the plastic on off old motor as the gear fell off in flight , these come with NO gears so may be remove the metal gear and fit the plastic one to the motor you have and at the same time get a refund

Also there is a company said they dont fit as they are not the same as the plastic gear

Hi Doug this was to show you what most of the replacement motor come as NO gear fitted , bang good will ship to the USA and I think its still free shipping ,just go on to banggood.com and look up replacement motors for your quad

Was there any resolution to this? I'm dealing with the same problem now. Not the gearing but the low level of lift power.

Resolved: In my case it was a bad charger. The model that came with the Syma X5C-1. Replaced the single line with a 5 in 1 charger and the new batteries did the trick. Back to flying!
