Suggestions for FrSky Rx use on RC crawler

Currently using a Tactic TTx 850 for use on my Crawlers and Monster Truck. I own Taranis QX7 for my 2 quads which I want to move my land vehicles over from the TTX850.

I am looking for suggestions as to which Rx would be a good option. I need at least 6ch for 1 of my crawlers as I have Turn/Throttle/Shift/FPV_Pan/FPV_Tilt/Light_control.

My need/want for this transition came from my Clodbuster Monster Truck. I am hopping for better mix programming for the rear steer control over what the TTX850 cannot seem to do.

Thanks,
John

haha. was about to ask
not a lot of pwm options I don't think for them
you might get the most miles from a ELRS transmitter module
Radiomaster makes 6 & 8 channel wing rxs that would work

Can you elaborate on the ELRS tx module? Would this be something that could allow me to use my Tactic Rx's?

Radiomaster, is there compatibility between them and Taranis?

Well, after alot of conversations, I have settled on the FrSky Archer R6. Hopefully it will work out, we will see when it gets here.

My want is for a rear steer functionality to be based on a combination of a 3 pos switch and ch1 which is my right stick used for steering
with Rear Steer Servo on ch 5.

Switch Position => Action
Pos 0 => Disable Rear steer
Pos 1 => Ch1 and Ch5 the same (tighter steering)
Pos 2 => Ch1 and Ch5 opposite (crab walk)

I believe 2 curves, one for each steering function. Then apply each curve to a mix.

Does this sound like a solid plan? Are there better ways to achieve this?

Ok, for anyone who finds this thread, the control of the rear steer was pretty simple.

In my setup, the radio is setup as follows...

Right Stick
Ch1 Ail => Front Steering
Ch2 Elv => Unused

Left Stick
Ch3 Thr => Throttle
Ch4 Rud => Rear Steering

What thru me for a loop was understanding that Sources can be used in Mixes objects the same as Input objects. To keep it easy to understand, I cleaned up the Inputs.

Deleted the ch2 Elv object
Renamed Ail to FSt
Renamed Rud to Rst

On the Mixes tab
Removed Elv mix.

Under the ch3 Thr mix, I applied a switch to act as a arming switch for throttle. I have bumped throttle with the remote hanging from my neck while carrying, not a pleasant experience.
Under the ch4 Rud mix, applied the momentary switch (SH) so that its disabled unless switch held, I also added 2 additional lines.

Name Crab / Source FSt / Weight 100 / Swtich SD middle position
Name Norm / Source FSt / Weight -100 / Swtich SD low position
note: the weight -100 inverts the signal and uses 100 % of the range

When the momentary switch is held, the left stick will control throttle and rear steer. This will rarely be used as holding the momentary switch in the on position on the right side of radio and trying to control the right stick for front steering is cumbersome. More importantly, the 3 position switch SD helps alot. When in the high position, there is no use of the rear steer. In the middle position, the rear steer will mimic the front steer and make for tighter turning radius. In the low position, the rear steer will be inverted from the front and allow for crab walking.

My wish list would be to use a 2 position switch in replacement of the momentary, and then have the mixes look that the other switch is in the high position (not used) so that you could not use the Left Stick rudder Input and the Right Stick Mix at the same time.

Looking forward to my receiver showing up next week. I will set trim's, limit range, then test.

My receiver arrived. Other than being a pain to press the button during the registration process, it is great. Upon implementing my above config, I found that dedicated switch position for crab walking was not useful and switch that to the momentary switch, making free (using left stick) the 3rd position.

Very happy with the results.
